Point Loma Nazarene 8, Oklahoma City 5 (Oklahoma City eliminated)

Another complete game by a pitcher in this tournament, but this one wasn’t an artistic masterpiece. Chad Blauer of the Sea Lions allowed three earned runs on nine hits, struck out 11, and threw 166 pitches. Read the rest of this entry »

USA Baseball Announces 2010 Golden Spikes Award Semifinalists

GoldenSpikesAward (DURHAM, N.C.) – USA Baseball announced Tuesday the names of the 30 semifinalists for the 2010 USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award (GSA).  This year will mark the 33rd consecutive year that the award has been presented to the nation’s top amateur baseball player. 

Today also marks the third year in a row that GoldenSpikesAward.com – powered by MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM), the interactive media and Internet company of Major League Baseball – will be the online home for the award.  The Web site features content devoted exclusively to the GSA, including news, voting history, past-winner photo galleries, and photographs and video highlights for the 2010 semifinalists.  Fans can follow online at GoldenSpikesAward.com as the list of 30 players is narrowed to five finalists on Tuesday, June 8, en route to the announcement of this year’s winner on Tuesday, July 13.

NCBWA Division I poll – May 31, 2010

DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 13th year with its 2010 weekly surveys. Weekly polls will be circulated from Feb. 22-June 29 following the 64th annual NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb., and final CWS competition at historic Rosenblatt Stadium.
