CBB Visit: McKinney Marshals 7 North Texas Copperheads 2

marshals logo McKinney, TX- Greg Maddux would have been appalled with the defense displayed by the pitchers from North Texas (1-1) and McKinney (1-1) over the past two nights. In a series that has seen a total of ten errors over a pair of games, seven of those mistakes have come from the pitchers of both teams. Despite his two errors on the night, McKinney Marshal starting pitcher Vance Woodruff (Grayson County) allowed only two runs while striking out eight Copperheads over eight innings, picking up the Marshals’ first win of the season.

North Texas jumped out to a 2-0 lead after three and a half innings, thanks to a pair of RBI fielder’s choice grounders by C Matt Shortall (Tulane), and the play of starting pitcher Teddy Nowell (Navarro/TCU). Nowell struck out six batters over his four innings of work, allowing only one run off five McKinney hits.

RamseyFSU Over the weekend, I was traveling with very limited access to the Internet. I was shocked on Sunday evening to see the ACC Championship game highlights on ESPN Sportscenter. TCBB talks with 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge

Moscona I was a guest last Monday on After Further Review with Matt Moscona which airs on 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge. We previewed the 2010 SEC Tourney and the LSU Tigers chances of getting into the tournament. I am sorry for posting it this late but I just got the audio from the radio station. It is an interesting interview as you can listen to my thoughts on the Tigers and what I thought about them last week which is totally different from what I feel about them right now.

Tim Esmay Named ASU Baseball Coach…What Took So Long?

Last June, Tim Esmay was fired from the ASU Baseball coaching staff.  A year later, after leading the Sun Devils to a 46-8 record and the #1 National seed, as well as their 4th straight Pac-10 Championship, Tim Esmay is now officially leading the Sun Devils as the Head Coach.  He was named the Interim Head Coach back in December after Pat Murphy was abruptly fired after 15 seasons, and picked up right where Murph left off. There were many doubters coming into this season, and they were silenced by a 24-0 start.  ”I am extremely honored to lead this program and carry on the storied tradition,” Esmay said. “To be able to be the head coach at my alma mater is a dream come true!”
