The Florida State Seminoles faced off against the Oregon Ducks on Saturday night in the fourth game of the Norwich (CT) Regional. Florida State and Oregon both sent their aces to the mound with Sean Gilmartin getting the ball for the Noles and Oregon sending Tyler Anderson to the mound.

The Ducks would score a first inning run on a Jack Marder solo homer over the left field fence to get up 1-0. The Noles would bounce right back with single runs in the second and third innings to get the 2-1 lead. The runs came in on a Jayce Boyd sacrifice fly in the second inning and a Mike McGee RBI double in the third inning. The Noles would extend the lead in the fourth with a two run double by Raffi Lopez to put them up 4-1. The Seminoles would expand the lead even more in the sixth and seventh inning with single runs to get up 6-1.

Oregon would mount a rally in the bottom of the eighth inning where they scored three runs but would not get closer as they brought the winning run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth but couldn’t get the key hit as they lost 6-4.

The story of the game was how the Ducks offense scrapped together 14 hits but only scored four runs in the game. They ended up leaving nine runners on base while hitting into three double plays.

Oregon will play UConn at 2pm tomorrow in an elimination game while FSU will play the winner of that game at 6:30pm.
