2010 NCAA Regional Previews: Coral Gables

BaseballChampionship-Regional_05 The Miami Hurricanes will be hosting a regional again this season as they will be joined by number 2 seeded Texas A&M, number 3 seeded Florida International, and Dartmouth rounds out the field as the four seed.

 

Miami (FL) (40-17 Overall Record, 20-11 ACC)

The Miami Hurricanes enter the postseason with a 40-17 record after going 20-11 in ACC play. They went 1-2 in the ACC Tournament defeating Florida State before losing to Boston College and Virginia. They are led on offense by Yasmani Grandal who is hitting .422 with 14 homers and 56 RBI. The pitching staff is led by Chris Hernandez leads the pitching staff with a 8-3 record with a 3.08 ERA.

Texas A&M (40-19-1 Overall Record, 14-12-1 Big 12)

The Aggies enter the regionals with a 40-19-1 overall record while going 14-12-1 in Big 12 play. Brodie Greene leads the team with a .392 average while hitting 12 homers and 50 RBI. Barrett Loux leads the pitching staff with a 10-2 record while having a 2.53 ERA. John Stilson leads the bullpen with a 8-1 record while having an ERA of 0.87.

Florida International (36-23 Overall Record, 18-13 Sun Belt)

They enter with a 36-23 record while going 18-13 in the Sun Belt conference. They are the highest profile team as Garrett Wittels who enters the weekend on a 54 game hitting streak. He is the top hitter on the team as he is hitting .412 with two homers and 58 RBI in 54 games. Jabari Henry leads the team with 11 homers. They pitching staff is led by R.J. Fondon who is 5-3 with a 4.40 ERA in 18 appearances (12 starts).

Dartmouth (26-17 Overall Record, 13-7 Ivy League)

The Big Green enter with a 26-17 overall record with a 13-7 record in the Ivy League. Chris O’Dowd leads the team with a .382 batting average while hitting six homers and driving in 25 runs. Kyle Hunter has been the best pitcher this year for the Big Green as he is 2-0 with a 3.69 ERA in 10 appearances including 8 starts.
