• Went 6-for-14 (.429) with two doubles, a triple, a homer, seven RBI and four runs scored. He was a single away from the cycle on Friday night (double, triple, HR in first three at bats) and notched a career best five RBI.
• Came up with the game-winning two-out, two-run single in the eighth inning of Sunday’s series-clinching 4-3 win over the Tigers.

John Olerud Award Watch List

LUBBOCK, Texas — The College Baseball Foundation announced today the names of 25 players from across the country featured on the watch list for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award.

The Olerud Award, which recognizes a player who makes an impact both on the mound and at the plate, will be presented in Lubbock, Texas, on July 2 as part of the College Baseball Awards Show.

Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Players of the Week Awards

IRVING, Texas—Robby Price (Kansas) has been tabbed the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week, while Oklahoma’s Jack Mayfield has been named the Pitcher of the Week for games of May 3-9, in voting by a panel of media covering the conference. It is Price’s third weekly accolade and Mayfield’s first.

NCBWA May 10 Division I Poll

DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 13th year with its 2010 weekly surveys. Weekly polls will be circulated from Feb. 22-June 29 following the 64th annual NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb., and final CWS competition at historic Rosenblatt Stadium. WAC Players of the Week

DENVER, CO – Fresno State’s Dusty Robinson and Nevada’s Jeremy Cole have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for May 3-9.

Robinson, a sophomore outfielder from Bakersfield, Calif. (Centennial HS), hit .571 (12-for-21), helping the Bulldogs to a four-game series sweep at New Mexico State. Robinson recorded 11 runs, 12 hits, 12 RBI, four home runs, four walks, two doubles and a triple last week. He also had a slugging percentage of 1.333 and an on-base percentage of .619. In the series opener against NM State, Robinson tied his career high at bats with seven and recorded four hits with five RBI. In the third game of the series, Robinson went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a triple and five RBI.

Southland Conference Recap for May 9th

LAKE CHARLES, La. – Sophomore Mitchell Pitts earned his fifth win of the season Sunday afternoon at Cowboy Diamond after tossing seven complete innings and holding McNeese State to just one run off four hits while striking out four in No. 29 Texas State’s 6-3 series-clinching victory.

The Bobcats improved to 30-17 overall and 20-7 in Southland Conference action with its eighth league series of the season. Texas State holds a game-and-a-half lead over Stephen F. Austin (32-13, 18-8 Southland) in the league standings for first place.
