The College Baseball Blog continues our tradition of naming National Player and Pitcher of the Week. This week we honor Kurtis Mueller of Iowa as our Player of the Week while Rhode Island RHP Tim Boyce wins our Pitcher of the Week for the 2nd week in a row.

Kurtis Mueller was named Big 10 Player of the Week after Iowa swept Purdue and made the Big 10 Tournament after being 6-10 and winning 7 of their last 8 conference games, finishing at 13-11. Mueller hit .714 for the series, with an OPS of 2.000, driving in six runs. He hit two doubles, two home runs and stole three bases, making his biggest mark in the season opener with a 4 for 5 performance. Mueller is a big reason Iowa made the Big 10 Tournament, as he was also named the Big 10 Player of the Week on May 11th.

Tim Boyce continues to be on an absolute tear for the Rams. On Thursday, Boyce continued his dominance by throwing 7.2 innings of hitless baseball versus George Washington in route to helping Rhode Island secure a #3 seed in the A-10 Tournament, pitching his 3rd straight complete game shutout. Boyce struck out seven and gave up three hits on route to the shutout, extending his scoreless streak to 34 innings. Over this streak, he has held opponents to a .109 batting average, allowing only 12 hits to 119 batters.
