DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 13th year with its 2010 weekly surveys. Weekly polls will be circulated from Feb. 22-June 29 following the 64th annual NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb., and final CWS competition at historic Rosenblatt Stadium.

After Cal State Fullerton (Big West), Dartmouth (Ivy League), and Bethune-Cookman (Mid-Eastern Athletic) became the initial qualifiers for the NCAA tournament starting June 4 at 16 regional sites, the other 27 automatic conference berths will be determined by Sunday. The NCAA Division I Baseball selection show will air on ESPN on Monday, May 31, at 11:30 a.m. (CDT).

The poll voters come from 40 college baseball writers and related media persons from throughout the nation. This week’s poll has representation by 11 different conferences among the 302 baseball-playing schools in the 2010 NCAA Division I ranks, and there have been 16 circuits in the surveys this season. Last year there were 17 different leagues (from 30 in NCAA Division I) among the Top 30 polls. For more information or to join the NCBWA, please go to www.ncbwa.com.

This is why I love the polls. Obviously I’m biased but they have Arkansas one spot ahead of Auburn. Arkansas has one more win 40-16 as opposed to 39-17. Despite this Auburn finished 2 games ahead of Arkansas in the West winning the division. Beat Arkansas head to head in Fayetteville, 2 out of 3.

How is North Carolina still ranked if they can’t even earn a birth in the ACC tournament? Voter bias anyone?

Agreed about UNC, I can’t believe they are still ranked.
