Adam Smith (Texas A&M) has been recognized as the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week, while his teammate Barret Loux and Nick Tepesch (Missouri) share the Pitcher of the Week accolade for games of May 10-16, in voting by a panel of media covering the Conference. Loux is being honored for the second time in his career. This marks the first weekly award for Smith and Tepesch.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Adam Smith, Texas A&M, 2B, So., 6-3, 200, Spring, Texas/Klein
Smith hit .471 with two home runs and nine RBI to lead the Aggies to a perfect 5-0 week. Two of his RBI were game-winners. The first broke a 1-1, sixth-inning tie at Houston on Tuesday with his first career grand slam. Smith then delivered a key two-run single in a seven-run fourth against Centenary on Wednesday. The Spring, Texas-infielder opened the scoring against Oklahoma State on Friday with a home run to left center. On Saturday, Smith tripled off the wall in right center, driving home two in an eventual 10-inning game two win over the Cowboys.

PITCHERS OF THE WEEK

Nick Tepesch, Missouri, RHP, Jr., 6-5, 225, Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs
Tepesch recorded his first career shutout as Missouri defeated Nebraska, 2-0, on Friday in the opener of the three-game series. He was perfect through the first 4.1 innings, retiring the first 13 Nebraska batters before giving up a single in the top of the fifth inning. Tepesch struck out a season-high nine and surrendered just five hits to move to 5-5 on the season. The Blue Springs, Mo. hurler retired the side in order in five innings.

Barret Loux, Texas A&M, RHP, Jr., 6-5, 215, Houston, Texas/Stratford
Loux tossed his first career complete game, a shutout, in Friday’s 7-0 win over Oklahoma State. He held an OSU team, which entered the weekend with a .311 average, to just four hits (.129 average) while allowing one walk and striking out seven. Just one runner reached second base on the night (fifth inning). In addition, Loux got to a three-ball count only six times. It was his fourth straight victory as he improved to 9-2 on the year.
