DELAND, Fla. – Fifth-ranked Florida State (37-12) wrapped up its non-conference regular season schedule with a 6-2 victory over Stetson (25-25) Wednesday evening on Melching Field at Conrad Park. With the win, the Seminoles defeated the Hatters for the 12th time in a row, while extending their win streak to five on Stetson’s home turf.

Hunter Scantling worked 6.0 plus innings to improve to 3-2 on the year. The sophomore right hander allowed two runs on seven hits as he walked two and struck out three. Scantling survived three line drives back toward the mound on Wednesday night in leading the Seminoles to the season sweep over the Hatters.

#21 North Carolina 10 College of Charleston 0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Greg Holt, Zach Bernard and Jimmy Messer combined to throw a five hit shutout to lead No. 21 North Carolina over College of Charleston 10-0 Wednesday night at Boshamer Stadium. Eight different Tar Heels registered a hit to earn Carolina’s season-high eighth straight victory and improve the Tar Heels to 32-17 on the year.

The Cougars Matt Pegler suffers his first loss of the season as College of Charleston falls to 36-14 overall. Nine walks and two errors in the loss plagued the Cougars.

Holt (3-2) allowed just two hits over a career-best six frames while registering three strikeouts. Bernard allowed just three hits over two scoreless innings and Messer worked a perfect ninth to seal the Carolina staff’s third shutout this season.

Wofford 6 Duke 4

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On Wednesday afternoon, the Wofford College baseball team defeated Duke 6-4 at Russell C. King Field. The game was tied at four in the seventh when Landon Bennett hit a single to score two runs.

Wofford moves to 17-32 on the season. Duke is 28-22 overall. The Terriers were led by James Foster with two hits and Landon Bennett with two hits and two RBIs. The Blue Devils had two hits from Marcus Stroman.

Wake Forest 22 UNC Greensboro 9

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest scored 12 runs in the top of the first inning and cruised to a 22-9 win over UNC Greensboro on Wednesday night at UNCG Baseball Stadium.

The Demon Deacons improved to 13-35 with the win, while the Spartans fell to 20-27 on the year.

Wake Forest posted a season-high 22 runs on 20 hits, including a 12-run first inning. The 22 runs was the most by Wake Forest since March 1, 2004, when the Deacs plated 23 runs in a 23-7 win against High Point. The 12 runs in the first marked the first time the Deacs had scored 10 or more runs in an inning since scoring 11 runs in an inning against Maryland on April 21, 2006. The 12 runs was also tied for the fourth most in an inning in Wake Forest history.
