IRVING, Texas—Robby Price (Kansas) has been tabbed the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week, while Oklahoma’s Jack Mayfield has been named the Pitcher of the Week for games of May 3-9, in voting by a panel of media covering the conference. It is Price’s third weekly accolade and Mayfield’s first.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Robby Price, Kansas, 2B, Sr., 5-11, 185, Lawrence, Kan./Free State
Senior Robby Price hit .583 with two doubles, a triple, two home runs and eight RBI to help the Jayhawks sweep Missouri in the Border Showdown. It was the first three-game sweep of the Tigers since 1994. Price hit a pair of home runs in Sunday’s finale, marking the first multi-homer game of his career. He collected three hits and three RBI in the second game of the series while driving in two in KU’s six-run fourth inning, erasing a five-run deficit. The Lawrence, Kan.-infielder recorded two hits, a double and a triple, along with three runs scored in the series opener. Overall, Price went 7-for-12 against the Tigers with five of his hits going for extra bases. He also drew three walks and a hit by pitch to reach base at a .688 clip.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Jack Mayfield, Oklahoma, RHP, Fr., 5-10, 167, Del Rio, Texas/Del Rio
Mayfield became the first OU freshman pitcher since 1976 to toss a complete-game shutout in the Bedlam Series, as the No. 14 Sooners defeated Oklahoma State, 6-0, on Sunday. He did not walk a batter and surrendered just five hits along with his seven strikeouts. Mayfield led OU to its first shutout of the Cowboys since game one of the 1993 series in Tulsa. In his first career start, the Del Rio, Texas-native retired the first nine OSU hitters and faced the minimum in six of his nine innings. Mayfield threw 23 first pitch strikes to the 30 batters he faced en route to posting career highs in innings, strikeouts (7) and pitches (117). His previous longest outing was a 3 2/3 relief effort against KSU on May 2.
