#28 Virginia Tech 3 #3 Georgia Tech 1 (11 innings)
BLACKSBURG, Va. – The 20th-ranked Virginia Tech baseball team scored twice in the top of the 11th inning to claim a 3-1 victory over third-ranked Georgia Tech in Atlantic Coast Conference baseball action on Friday night at Russ Chandler Stadium.
The win improved Virginia Tech to 27-13 overall and 10-9 in the ACC, and also marked the Hokies’ sixth win over a top-10 team in the past 10 conference games. Georgia Tech, which entered the game as the league’s top offensive team and ranked among the nation’s top 10 in six offensive categories, fell to 33-6 overall and 15-4 in the ACC. It was only the Yellow Jackets’ second loss at home this season (22-2).
BOSTON, MA – The Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game will take place on Wed, July 28, 2010 at 7:05 p.m. at Fenway Park. The family friendly event will feature a pre-game Home Run Derby, autograph session with the all-stars, and a silent auction filled with baseball memorabilia. Discounted concession items will also be available.
Garrett Regan is a Senior first baseman for the Oklahoma City University Stars, currently ranked #3 in the NAIA and leading the Sooner Athletic Conference. Garrett is batting .366 with six home runs and 39 RBI. He was drafted in the 50th round out of high school. The Stars have a key matchup at Lubbock Christian this weekend.
