FGCU loses another Catcher

FGCULogo Florida Gulf Coast lost freshman catcher Mike Reeves on Wednesday night for the rest of the season when he took an inside pitch on his left thumb. The pitch ended up breaking his thumb where two pins where inserted to stabilize it.

This is the second catcher this season to go down for FGCU as Robert Greene has been relegated to DHing as he suffered an ulnar collateral ligament damage just before the start of the season.

MTSU’s Brentz to miss 3 Weeks

BryceBrentzMTSU According to a report by Aaron Fitt of Baseball America, Bryce Brentz will miss the next 2-3 weeks with a fracture in his right ankle. He substained the injury during warmups last week for a game on Friday against South Alabama. He will not be traveling with the team this weekend to Florida Atlantic as he will stay in Murfreesboro to get treatment.

CBB Regional Projections (April 1st)

The College Baseball Blog continues our weekly countdown to the release of the 2010 NCAA Regional Brackets. The brackets are done as if the NCAA Tournament was set to start today. I ended up using Boyd’s World RPI which was updated through games on Tuesday as that was the latest available. The RPI changes dramatically every week especially before some of the schools start the conference campaign. You can check out the full bracket below which is our best estimate right now. CWS patriarch Diesing dies

Diesing Omaha-World Herald writer David Hendee has a great article looking at former CWS General Chairman Jack Diesing Sr. who died this past week after complications with Parkinson’s disease. He worked with the College World Series for 46 years after taking over the position when his former boss at Brandeis Department Store in Omaha died.
