Chad Comer went 4-for-5 and hit the game-winning, two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to give UT Arlington a 7-6 victory over No. 22 Southeastern Louisiana in front of 789 fans Friday night at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

Big 12 recap for April 9th

The No. 6 Texas Longhorns won the series opener against the Kansas Jayhawks in dramatic fashion with a walk-off sacrifice fly in the 11th inning for the 3-2 victory.

Jordan Weymouth hit a one-out, pinch-hit triple, and after Kevin Lusson was hit by a pitch, the Longhorns had runners on first and third. Tim Maitland, who replaced Connor Rowe in the outfield, then delivered a fly ball deep enough to rightfield to bring Weymouth home, and give Texas the win.

CBB Visit: No. 2 Georgia Tech at No. 5 Virginia (April 9th)

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — No. 5 Virginia’s 7-4 Friday victory against No. 2 Georgia Tech at home is really hard to capture in words—it’s hard to describe a game that was both a pitcher’s duel and an amazing display of hitting, and featured both 24 total strikeouts from the pitchers and five home runs from the batters.

This game met all of the nationally-acclaimed hype nonetheless—the record 4,155 fans that attended the game in Charlottesville were treated to an amazing game of baseball from two top teams.

A three-run eighth capped an Illinois comeback on Friday night as the Fighting Illini took Game 1 of the series, 9-8, retaining a share of first place in the Big Ten. Casey McMurray led the Illinois offense, going 4-for-6 with three RBI and a run scored. Brian de la Torriente picked up the win in relief, while Bryan Roberts converted on his fourth consecutive save opportunity with two shutout innings. Michael Jacobs was tagged with the loss in relief, coming on for Jarred Hippen, who scattered five earned runs on 10 hits in six innings with seven strikeouts. Ryan Durant led the Hawkeyes at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Seventh-ranked Florida State (23-7, 8-5 ACC) began its second road trip to the Carolinas on the right foot defeating Wake Forest (10-22, 2-11 ACC) 10-1 Friday evening on Gene Hooks Field at Wake Forest Baseball Park. The Seminoles tied a season-high with three home runs while capturing their sixth straight win over the Demon Deacons.

WAC Weekend Preview (April 9th – 11th)

As is customary with a seven team league the first weekend of WAC play sees six of the seven teams in action including New Mexico State who holds the nation’s longest active winning at 11 games.  Five of the seven teams in the league have a .500 or better record coming into league play and holds a 107-88-1 record against non-conference opponents.

SEC Weekend Preview (April 9th-11th)

The SEC enters its fourth weekend of action seeing South Carolina visiting Vanderbilt in the only matchup between two ranked squads. The rest of the matchups see Alabama visiting Kentucky, Arkansas at Mississippi State, LSU at Auburn, Florida at Tennessee, and Ole Miss at Georgia. Rutgers Men’s Basketball Coach Fred Hill to be Fired for Baseball Game Tirade

BaintonField Men’s Head Basketball Coach Fred Hill is reportedly being let go by Rutgers University on Thursday, according to Jeff Goodman of FoxSports.com The incident that is reportedly leading to the firing happened at the conclusion of the Pitt-Rutgers baseball game last Thursday at Bainton Field.  Fred Hill’s father, Fred, is the  longtime coach of the Rutgers Baseball team. ArkansasBaseball #3 LSU 6 Southern Miss 5 (12 innings)

METAIRIE, La. – Pinch hitter Wet Delatte lined a walk-off single in the bottom of the 12th inning to lift No. 3 LSU to a 6-5 victory over Southern Mississippi Wednesday night in the annual Wally Pontiff Jr. Classic in front of 9,370 fans Wednesday night at Zephyr Field.

After Southern Miss second baseman Taylor Walker launched a solo homer in the in the top of the twelfth, the Tigers (25-4) responded in the bottom of the frame when pinch hitter Mason Katz doubled off the wall in left field and Leon Landry ripped a triple into right that scored Katz and knotted the game at 5-5.
