ATLANTA, Ga. – The 20th-ranked Virginia Tech baseball team won the front end of an unconventional double-header on Sunday at Russ Chandler Stadium to clinch a series win over third-ranked Georgia Tech.

After Saturday’s affair was halted by rain in the middle of the fourth inning with the Hokies up 6-0, the game was suspended until Sunday at noon, where the Hokies completed what they started with a 10-3 win. Georgia Tech then won a slugfest in the third contest by a score of 14-12.

#10 Florida State 7 #13 Miami FL 6

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – For the second day in a row, sixth-ranked Florida State (31-10, 14-7 ACC) used a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth to defeat No. 14 Miami (29-11, 15-6 ACC) 6-5 Sunday afternoon on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium. With the win, the Seminoles captured their first series victory over the Hurricanes in Tallahassee since 2003, while Florida State remained perfect on Sunday’s this year moving to 10-0.

The 4,611 fans inside Howser Stadium could not have asked for a better ending than what they witnessed on Sunday afternoon. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth and the Noles trailing by one, Mike McGee took a 3-2 pitch from Miami reliever Taylor Wulf (0-1) and sent it over the fence in right center for a walk-off, two-run home run.

Game 1: #24 Clemson 10 #29 North Carolina 6 (Resumption of 4/24 Game)

Clemson, SC – Kyle Parker went 3-for-4 with a home run and #20 Clemson scored six runs in the fourth inning to rally from a 5-0 deficit to defeat North Carolina 10-6 in front of 5,118 fans at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in a game that started Saturday and was completed on Sunday due to inclement weather. The Tigers, who evened the series 1-1, improved to 25-15 overall and 11-9 in the ACC. The Tar Heels fell to 24-17 overall and 7-13 in ACC play.

Alex Frederick (1-1), the second of four Tiger pitchers, earned the win, as he pitched 1.2 hitless and scoreless innings. Will Lamb struck out the only batter he faced to record his first save of the season.

Game 2: #29 North Carolina 4 #24 Clemson 3

CLEMSON, S.C. – A pinch-hit double off the bat of Brett Knief scored Ryan Graepel to give North Carolina a 4-3 win over No. 20 Clemson Sunday afternoon at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. Patrick Johnson outdueled Clemson starter Dominic Leone to improve Carolina to 25-17 overall and 8-13 in league play. Clemson left seven runners on base and falls to 25-16 and 11-10 in the ACC.

Johnson (4-3) set a new career-high with 8.1 innings pitched. The junior worked into the ninth and allowed just three runs, only one earned, on seven hits with six strikeouts. Greg Holt registered a huge strikeout to earn his third save of the year.

Boston College 11 NC State 10

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Boston College baseball team gave up its lead two times in the seventh and eighth innings, but showed tremendous fight as it also regained it twice en route to an 11-10 win Sunday afternoon at Doak Field at Dail Park.

It was the second wild win in as many games and with it, marks the first time since joining the ACC that the Eagles have swept on consecutive weekends. The lead in the game switched four times from the bottom of the seventh to the top of the ninth innings.

Wake Forest 7 Duke 1

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Starter Michael Dimock had the best outing of his career, giving up only one run in eight innings with a career-high 11 strikeouts, as Wake Forest won its first Atlantic Coast Conference series of the year with a 7-1 victory over Duke Sunday afternoon at Gene Hooks Field at Wake Forest Baseball Park.

Dimock (2-7) tied a career high with eight innings pitched and gave up one run on five hits with 11 strikeouts and no walks. Dimock is the first Wake pitcher record 10+ strikeouts in a game since Brad Kledzik mowed down 10 Old Dominion batters in 2009.

Nice series for the Hokies this weekend, – Anthony Sosnoskie – the only catcher in the ACC last season no past balls. Kid has defensive skills, Domecus – lots of passed balls – not sharp why is Hughes hiding that kid? Poor choice
