GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 4 University of Arkansas baseball team extended its winning streak to 13 games with an 8-3 win over seventh-ranked Florida Friday night at McKethan Stadium. The Razorbacks got home runs from Travis Sample, Bo Bigham and Collin Kuhn to reel off their ninth consecutive victory in Southeastern Conference play. Drew Smyly struck out 10 hitters in seven innings to pick up his sixth win of the season. Arkansas’ 13-game winning streak is the longest for the program since the 1996 club won 18 in a row to start the season.

Florida (26-11, 10-6 SEC) manufactured the game’s first run in the bottom of the first. Nolan Fontana led off the inning with a double to right field. He was moved to third with a sacrifice bunt and eventually came in to score on an RBI groundout by Preston Tucker. Later in the inning, the home team had two runners on but James McCann got the Razorbacks out of trouble when he threw down to first to pick off Daniel Pigott for the third out.

#14 South Carolina 11 Georgia 4

Athens, Ga. – Blake Cooper worked eight innings and struck out nine batters to earn his eighth win of the season and was backed by an offense that pounded out 12 hits as South Carolina upended Georgia 11-4 on Friday evening in game one of a three-game SEC baseball series at Foley Field. Carolina is now 30-8 and 12-4 in the SEC while the loss drops Georgia to 12-26 and 3-13 in the conference. Game two of the series is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday and will be televised live on CSS and can also be heard on the Gamecock Radio Network and at GamecocksOnline.com.

Cooper is now 8-0 on the year after allowing four runs on seven hits in eight innings on the night. He struck out nine and walked one. Georgia starter Justin Grimm went five-plus innings and allowed nine runs on seven hits with six walks and three strikeouts. He also hit a batter. He is now 2-6 for the season.

#15 Vanderbilt 10 Tennessee 1

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt right-hander Sonny Gray struck out 10 batters in seven innings to lead the Commodores to a 10-1 win over Tennessee Friday night at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Gray won his second straight game to improve to 6-4 on the year, tying a season high with 10 strikeouts. He allowed just one run on a solo homer in the third inning and gave up just three hits and did not walk a batter.

Auburn 13 Kentucky 6

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn’s leadoff man reached base safely and scored in each of the first three innings as Auburn built an early four run lead en route to a 13-6 series-opening win over Kentucky on Friday night. The win was Auburn’s first SEC series-opening win since the conference opener at Georgia and moved its record to 26-13, 9-7 SEC.

Justin Fradejas (20 games), Trent Mummey (11) and Hunter Morris (14) each extended their hitting streaks with first-inning hits. Fradejas and Mummey both singled and Morris drove them both in with his fourth triple of the year to give Auburn a lead it would never relinquish.
