WAC Reprimands Trapasso

Trapasso WAC commissioner Karl Benson announced that Hawai’i baseball coach Mike Trapasso was reprimanded for violating the conference’s sportsmanship code. The incident occurred after a loss by a score of 11-6 to Sacramento State on April 16th where he publically criticized the officials by calling them “horrible,” “arrogant,” and “an embarrassment to that profession”. I personally find this sort of comments deplorable and the reprimand was definitely needed by the conference.

The pressure with the Warriors might be getting to Coach Trapasso as they had a strong start to the season before starting out a disappointing 2-6 in conference play. You can check out the full press release from the WAC below.

DENVER – Western Athletic Conference commissioner Karl Benson announced today that University of Hawai’i baseball coach Mike Trapasso has been reprimanded for violating the WAC’s sportsmanship code.

The violation occurred when Trapasso publicly criticized the game officials during his postgame comments to the press following the game against Sacramento State on April 16.

Said Benson, "Coach Trapasso’s comments criticizing the officials clearly violated the WAC sportsmanship code and will not be tolerated.  Any further violations of the code may result in added disciplinary action."
