PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ConnorPowersMississippiState Connor Powers  Miss. State Senior 1B  Naperville, Ill.

• Helped power State to a 3-1 mark last week and its second league series win of the campaign… Batted .706 and delivered four consecutive 3-hit games and drove in 8 runs… With his 12-hit, 8-RBI week raised his batting average to .414, third-highest in the SEC… Continues to lead the SEC in RBI (53) and slugging percentage (.767).
• Tied the school doubles record with three two-baggers in MSU’s series-clinching 14-6 Sunday win over UT… Credited with his 6th (vs. South Alabama) and 7th (in Sunday series-clincher vs. Tennessee) GWRBI… Laced six doubles and his 10th home run en route to a 1.235 slugging % & a .773 on-base %.

 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Blake Cooper  South Carolina Senior RHP Neeses, S.C. 

• Cooper tossed a complete game shutout with a four-hitter in the 5-0 win vs. nationally ranked Ole Miss on Friday, April 16…  He is only the second SEC pitcher to record a complete game shutout this year and the first this season to do it in SEC play… Cooper struck out a career-high 10 batters in the victory, his fifth complete game of his career but his first career complete game shutout.
• He allowed just four hits and one walk in the victory…  The complete game shutout was the first by a Gamecock pitcher since Aaron Rawl on May 13, 2005 in a 2-0 win at Ole Miss.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Austin Maddox Florida 3B/DH Jacksonville, Fla.

• Led Florida to its first series victory at  UK  since 2004 by hitting .538 (7-for-13), homering in all three games and boasting a slugging % of 1.462…Also paced UF in RBI (five) and runs (five) versus the Wildcats…Six of his seven hits on the weekend went for extra-bases, as he had three dingers and three doubles.
• Snapped a 6-6 tie in the seventh inning of the opener by clubbing a three-run shot and was 3-for-5 with two runs during UF’s 10-8 victory…Gave the Gators a 3-1 lead on Saturday with a solo shot to open the fourth and was 3-for-5 with two doubles as UF clinched the series by posting a 6-3 victory…Connected on his team-leading 12th homer in the eighth inning of the finale.
