CBB Players of the Week

BrianBurtonCanisius The College Baseball Blog continues our tradition of naming National Player and Pitcher of the Week. This week we honor Canisius first baseman Brian Burton as our Player of the Week while Lehigh’s Greg Angelo and Fresno State’s Greg Gonzalez are out Co-Pitchers of the Week.

Burton hit .667 (16-for-24) with eight runs scored, five home runs, 16 RBI, 1.458 slugging percentage and .714 on-base percentage in six Canisius wins last week. Burton was 7-for-7 in Saturday’s doubleheader at Saint Peter’s, reaching base in all 10 plate appearances. The junior had two games with two HR and six RBI.

Angelo pitched a seven inning no-hitter on Sunday as he dominated Lafayette’s hitters. He allowed only one walk and one error for the only two baserunners in the game.

Gonzalez also pitched a seven inning no-hitter on Saturday as he went all seven innings while allowing only two walks and striking out seven Hawaii batters.
