WORCESTER, Mass. – Matt Fouch fired a six-hit shutout and Clint Moore blasted a two-run homer in the opener and Kevin McKague doubled twice and tossed two shutout innings to earn a save in the nightcap as Army swept a Patriot League doubleheader from Holy Cross, Sunday afternoon at Fitton Field.

The Black Knights blanked the Crusaders 6-0 behind Fouch’s strong pitching in the first game, then scored six runs in their first two plate appearances en route to a 10-4 victory in the second game. After dropping the first game of the series by a 19-1 margin on Saturday, Army rebounded with three consecutive wins to claim the weekend series. With the three wins, Army exits the opening weekend of Patriot League play holding down sole possession of first place in the conference standings, one game ahead of Bucknell, Navy, Lafayette and Lehigh, all of which went 2-2 during weekend play.

EASTON, Pa. – It was another up and down day for the Leopards who split their Sunday doubleheader with Bucknell by winning the first game 5-4 before falling 18-8 in the series finale.

The Leopards rallied for four runs in the sixth inning, including what stood as the game-winning hit by pinch hitter Scott Kelleher, and held on for the 5-4 win. The Bison rebounded in the nightcap, collecting 18 runs on 20 hits, five of which were home runs.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy baseball starting pitcher Ben Nelson (Fr./Winter Springs, Fla.) fired eight shutout innings to lead the Midshipmen to a doubleheader split with Lehigh on Sunday afternoon at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium. The Midshipmen (19-10, 2-2 PL) blanked Lehigh (8-16, 2-2 PL) in game two, 7-0, prior to the Mountain Hawks earning a 5-2 win in the opener.

Nelson, who was making his first-career appearance in Patriot League action and second-career start, faced only five batters over the minimum and needed just 99 pitches to get through eight innings. He scattered four hits and one walk with five strikeouts. The right-hander allowed only one runner to reach second base during the entire afternoon and held Lehigh to just one hit during his final-five innings.
