The College Baseball Blog continues our weekly countdown to the release of the 2010 NCAA Regional Brackets. The brackets are done as if the NCAA Tournament was set to start today. I ended up using Boyd’s World RPI which was updated through games on Tuesday as that was the latest available. The RPI changes dramatically every week especially before some of the schools start the conference campaign. You can check out the full bracket below which is our best estimate right now.

You have a very bad 2-4, 14-11 Mississippi State Team as a 2 seed?
Texas State and SELA can’t be in the same Regional, they play in the same conference.
Sorry, Mississippi State does have the 29 RPI so I guess you had to put them in.
I would take that match-up for Coastal.
You have 3 teams from the Big East and USF is not one of them? You are picking Pittsburgh to win the Big East tournament so how does UConn get in…at large? Somebody sees something developing in this conference that just will not happen. Louisville and USF in BE Tourney championship game….Fontanez gets the win!!!!

ORU just beat Witchita 2 out of 2 and Texas in Austin. Anyone really believe that SD State will win the Summit League? Not me.
I am a very biased Georgia Tech fan, but still, shouldn’t we be a national seed? Especially if you have us winning the ACC. I know we’ve got a weak schedule, but if you pick us as ACC Champs how does UVA get a 3 while we get to only host a regional?
Oregon a 3? What’s next? Wisconsin and SMU in a region…
Alright y’all, you have to realize that Brian’s using the Boyd’s World RPI index. It’s probably the only available empirical measure to really rank teams, so thus the usage.
These projections reflect a “if the season ended today”-type of scenario. Nonetheless, Boyd’s rankings are crap, so there you have it. Anyone who tries to justify how ASU’s and UCLA’s schedules are ostensibly harder than UVA’s schedule has no credibility whatsoever.
Actually, what kills UVA’s RPI is the back end of the schedule with Rhode Island x3 , George Washington, and Dartmouth x2 which all have RPI’s near 180 right now.
ASU has played Northern Illinois x3 and Towson x4.
