Showdown at Dick Howser?

KeithWermanUVA The biggest series of the entire weekend is with the Virginia Cavaliers heading down to Tallahassee to play the Florida State Seminoles. The Tallahassee Democrat checks in with an article about how both teams are expecting a pitching duel this evening as UVA’s Danny Hultzen faces off against FSU Sean Gilmartin. The Daily Progress out of Charlottesville has an interesting article about UVA sparkplug Keith Werman who has picked up where he left off last season. You can also listen to a preview I did of the series with WINA by clicking

Duquesne Baseball overcoming Obstacles?

MikeWilson One of my favorite college baseball beat writers in the country Chuck Carree of The StarNews recently had a chance to talk with Duquesne head coach Mike Wilson whose squad will be taking on UNC-Wilmington this weekend. The interesting part of the article is the fact that Wilson has to deal with many different factors that most Division 1 coaches don’t have to deal with like being the team’s grounds keeper, equipment manager and traveling secretary among other things.

I have to start with an apology for last week. Last week’s bracket has several large omissions, including the inexcusable absence of Arizona State from the initial bracket. I have revamped my efforts and hopefully come up with a set formula to avoid mistakes like last week. Hopefully this week there will be less comments pointing out faults, and more discussing the merits of the teams in the field of 64. Read the rest of this entry »
