FloridaBaseball #5 Florida 13 #19 Ole Miss 1

Behind 5.1 strong innings from freshman left-hander Brian Johnson (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) and three RBI apiece from freshman Austin Maddox (Jacksonville, Fla.) and sophomore Daniel Pigott (Ormond Beach, Fla.), No. 2 Florida (18-5/4-2 SEC) salvaged the finale of its weekend series at No. 17 Ole Miss (19-6/4-2 SEC) with a 13-1 win on Sunday afternoon in front of 6,116 fans at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. In picking up his first league victory, Johnson (2-1) did not allow any earned runs and was supported by a Gator offense that registered 15 hits and tallied multiple runs in the third, fourth, fifth, seventh and ninth innings to avoid the sweep.

Maddox (2-for-4, three RBI, two runs) opened the scoring with his team-leading seventh homer into the visiting bullpen in right field to start the second inning. It came on a 2-0 offering from junior Trent Rothlin (3-2) and boosted the rookie’s hitting streak to seven games.

#16 Arkansas 10 #20 Alabama 5

FAYETTEVILLE – The No. 16 University of Arkansas baseball team completed a weekend sweep of Alabama with a 10-5 win Sunday afternoon at Baum Stadium. The Hogs got home runs from Collin Kuhn, Zack Cox, Andy Wilkins and Brett Eibner to post their largest offensive output-10 runs and 14 hits-in Southeastern Conference play this season. For the third time in as many games, the Razorbacks rallied from an early deficit en route to their first series win, and sweep, against the Crimson Tide since the 2006 season.

Arkansas (18-5, 4-2 SEC) trailed by four after the Crimson Tide’s first time at the plate, but used a two-run bottom of the first to cut into its deficit before posting four runs in the sixth and seventh innings to take control of Sunday’s game. The Hogs will take a five-game winning streak into their midweek series against Centenary.

Auburn 10 #21 South Carolina 6

AUBURN, Ala. – Grant Dayton induced 14 fly outs in his 7 1/3 innings of work, at one point retiring 10 in a row on fly balls, and the Auburn offense awoke to score 10 runs on nine hits and six walks as Auburn defeated No. 14 South Carolina, 10-6, on Sunday afternoon to salvage the final game of the three-game series. Auburn’s win snapped South Carolina’s 13-game winning streak and improved Auburn’s record to 17-7, 4-2 SEC.

"With a team like South Carolina and the offense they can put up and the wind blowing out to left, I thought Grant did a great job of keeping them off base," Auburn Head Coach John Pawlowski said.
