Robby Price (Kansas) has been tabbed the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week, while Brett Bochy (Kansas) and Tom Lemke (Nebraska) have been named Pitchers of the Week for games of March 22-28, in voting by a panel of media covering the conference. All three student-athletes are being honored for the first time.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Robby Price, Kansas, 2B, Sr., 5-11, 185, Lawrence, Kan./Free State
Price hit .474 (9-for-19) with two doubles, two triples and a home run to lead the Jayhawks to a 4-1 record. The Jayhawks earned their first-ever series victory at Baylor, taking two of three from the Bears. Price recorded a career-high six RBI in the extra-inning win Sunday. He started the week by going 1-for-3 with an RBI in the Tuesday night win over Creighton. Price was 6-for-13 in the three-game series at BU, scoring four runs and collecting nine RBI. Price also walked three times in the series against the Bears. With this week’s performance, Price extended his season-best hitting streak to eight games, and has raised his batting average from .241 on March 6, to .330 as of Sunday. Price also played error-free in the field, including 10 assists in Sunday’s game against Baylor.

PITCHERS OF THE WEEK

Brett Bochy, Kansas, RHP, Jr.-RS, 6-2, 182, Poway, Calif./Poway
The junior reliever earned two wins and a save in games against Creighton and at Baylor. Bochy pitched 9 1/3 innings out of the Kansas bullpen, and allowed just one run on four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. This included a six-inning performance at Baylor on Sunday where the right-handed pitcher retired all 18 batters he faced in a 14-inning win — the longest KU game since 1992. The win also clinched KU’s first series win at Baylor in team history. Bochy entered a tie game in the bottom of the ninth inning and recorded six-straight scoreless innings, allowing his offense to win the game. He also pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the eighth inning against Creighton on Tuesday to help KU snap a four-game losing streak. Bochy surrendered just his second run of the season in Friday’s win, but managed to collect his team-best fourth save.

Tom Lemke, Nebraska, RHP, Fr., 6-8, 231, Phoenix, Ariz./Northwest Christian
Lemke tossed a three-hit shutout against No. 12 Oklahoma on Sunday, as Nebraska won 10-0 in seven innings. He established career bests in strikeouts (eight) and innings pitched, as he took a no-hitter thru 4.2 innings and handed Oklahoma its first regular-season shutout since 2007. The Phoenix, Ariz. native struck out seven of the first nine Sooners he faced, becoming just the second Husker freshman since 2001 to throw a complete-game shutout.
