ASU’s Jake Borup: From ASU, to Mormon Mission, and Back Again

Jake Borup is 5-0 in 5 starts and is leading the ASU starting pitching staff with a 2.42 ERA with a K/9 just under 8.  The Sun Devil pitching staff has been amazing in the absence of Josh Spence at 20-0 so far, but Borup has been a welcome surprise.

Borup enrolled at ASU in the Fall of 2005, but answered a higher calling by performing his Mormon Mission.  The Sun Devils could have used his arm along side Mike Leake the past two seasons, but he is contributing now as a 22 year old redshirt Sophomore.

He’s got the right frame. It will be interesting to see how the team moves through the Pac-10 in the coming weeks.
