GaryBrownFullerton Cal State Fullerton swept the baseball honors as red hot Gary Brown hit .632 over four games for Field Player of the Week recognition, while Noe Ramirez dealt his first career complete game in a 6-1 win against Arizona for Pitcher of the Week accolades.

 

Brown Rakes Five Extra Base Hits, Hits .632 For Titans

A hot hitting Gary Brown (Diamond Bar, Calif./Diamond Bar HS) garnered Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week accolades after torching opposing pitching with four consecutive three-hit games.

Brown hit .632 (12-for-19) with six runs scored and six RBI as the Titans posted a 2-2 record for the week.  In recording at least one extra base hit in each of the four outings, Brown extended his hitting streak to 10 straight games.

He started the week with a 3-for-4 effort to lead CSF to an 11-4 win against San Diego.  He scored twice and drove in three and also clubbed his first homer of the season.

In a three-game series at Arizona, Brown had nine hits in 15 at-bats.  He had two triples, a double and another home run against the Wildcats.  He went 3-for-5 with a triple and RBI in the Titans’ 6-1 win on Saturday.

The speedy center fielder also stole three bases in three chances to move within six steals of the CSF career top 10.  His two triples moved him into sole possession of third place on the school’s career top 10 list.

Ramirez Tosses First Career Complete Game In Win At Arizona

The sophomore right-hander allowed just five hits and  one run to lead the Titans to a 6-1 victory over Arizona.  He faced just eight batters over the minimum, striking out nine Wildcats and walking one.  He just missed his career high of 10 strikeouts.

Ramirez had a shutout going for 8.1 innings but the Wildcats broke through for a run in the ninth.
