#3 Florida State 12 #29 Georgia 1

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Third-ranked Florida State (8-0) kept its undefeated record intact Friday night with a 12-1 victory over No. 25 Georgia (6-4). The win was the third straight over the Bulldogs and second in a row over a ranked opponent. The 11-run margin was the largest margin of victory for the Seminoles in the series since downing the Bulldogs 16-4 in Tallahassee back on March 19, 1959.

Picking up where he left off in last year’s NCAA Tallahassee Regional Tournament, Sean Gilmartin (3-0) once again stymied the Georgia offense allowing just one unearned run on six hits over seven innings of work. The sophomore southpaw did not issue a walk while tying a career-high with nine strikeouts.

#5 Florida 7 #10 Miami (FL) 1

Sophomore Alex Panteliodis (Tampa, Fla.) kept No. 10 Miami (6-2) hitless into the fifth and registered a career-high eight strikeouts as No. 5 Florida (6-1) captured the series opener between the Sunshine State rivals on Friday night, 7-1, at Alex Rodriguez Park. Making his initial start of the season, Panteliodis (3-0) gave up two hits over 5.2 innings and was supported by an offense that plated four runs in the third and three in the eighth. Sophomore Nick Maronde (Lexington, Ky.) collected his first career save with seven strikeouts over 3.1 hitless and scoreless innings.

“Our pitching was outstanding tonight,” head coach Kevin O’Sullivan said. “Alex (Panteliodis) gave us a quality start and Nick (Maronde) was solid in relief. We need to go on the road and win Friday night games against top-notch pitchers, that is something we haven’t been able to do for the last couple of years. Our hitters shortened their swings and had a much better approach at the plate tonight. I saw a lot of progress from Tuesday night.”
