#1 LSU 8 Pepperdine 1

BATON ROUGE — Second baseman Tyler Hanover went 3-for-4 and scored twice, and designated hitter Matt Gaudet knocked in three runs as No.1 LSU defeated Pepperdine, 8-1, Thursday night in Alex Box Stadium.

The Tigers (8-0) will face Brown (0-0) Friday at 7 p.m. in Alex Box Stadium. The game will be Brown’s second of a Friday doubleheader, as the Bears will play Pepperdine (3-5) earlier in the day at 2 p.m. in Alex Box Stadium. Admission is free to the Pepperdine-Brown game.

San Diego State 12 #27 Kentucky 4

SAN DIEGO — San Diego State junior All-American right-hander Addison Reed turned in a six-inning, six-strikeout performance, handing No. 23 Kentucky its first loss of the season, 12-4, Thursday night at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

Reed, who was named the top closer in college baseball last season after leading the NCAA in saves, lasted six innings, allowing only two UK runs and scattering just five hits. Reed, a 6-foot-3, 220-pounder, notched the win, improving to 2-1 after fanning six Wildcats and issuing just one walk.

How did that big kid, Cole Cook, look against LSU? Where do you put him going in the draft?

Looked solid…7 innings, four runs (3 earned), nine strikeouts while walking only one batter.
