FSUBoyd TAMPA, Fla. – A seven-run first inning proved to be the difference Tuesday night as No. 3 Florida State (7-0) defeated No. 5 Florida (5-1) 10-5 in the second game of the Florida Four Tournament on Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Fla. The game was the first of four meetings between these intra-state rivals.

With the 10 runs and 13 hits, the Seminoles have posted double-digits hits and runs in each of their first seven games to start the 2010 campaign. Dating back to last season, Florida State has registered double-digit hits in 12 consecutive games.

VMI 7 Maryland 6 (11 innings)

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – What began as a pitcher’s duel ended nearly four hours later in wild fashion, as VMI won its seventh straight, 7-6 in 11 innings, over Maryland in non-conference baseball action Tuesday at Shipley Field.

With the win, VMI (7-0) continues its best-ever start with its first win over an ACC opponent since knocking off Virginia Tech, 8-7, on April 30, 2008.  The last time VMI defeated an ACC team on the road also came against the Hokies back on April 27, 2005 a 6-2 victory in Blacksburg.  The Terrapins, meanwhile, fall to 1-6 with the loss.
