Brodie Greene (Texas A&M) has been tabbed the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week, while Shawn Tolleson (Baylor) and Chad Bettis (Texas Tech) share Pitcher of the Week honors for games of Feb. 15-21, in voting by a panel of media covering the conference.  It is the first conference weekly accolade for Greene, and the second for both Tolleson and Bettis.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brodie Greene, Texas A&M, CF, Sr.,  6-1, 195, Bullard, Texas/Bullard
Greene hit .727 (8-for-11) in a three-game sweep of Seton Hall with two triples, six RBI and seven runs scored. He reached base in 10 of his 14 plate appearances and scored seven of those times. The Bullard, Texas native posted a 1.091 slugging percentage and .833 average. Greene was  perfect in stolen base attempts, going 3-for-3. In his first starts in center field in nearly two years, Greene recorded a diving catch on a deep fly ball to center field in the first game of Saturday’s twin bill that saved several runs. He also picked up an outfield assist in the fifth inning of the second game, helping gun down a runner at the plate and keep the score knotted at 3-3 (A&M won, 6-3).

PITCHERS OF THE WEEK
Shawn Tolleson, Baylor, RHP, Jr., 6-2, 215, Fairview, Texas/Allen
Tolleson got the opening-day start for the Bears and struck out 11 batters in 6.0 innings en route to earning a win against Duke. He allowed three first-inning runs, then held Duke scoreless on just two hits over next the five frames. The junior righty recorded 10 of the final 12 outs by strikeout. Tolleson’s 11 K’s were the most since he retired 12 at Kansas State on April 13, 2008. This was just the second time he struck out more than seven batters in a game.

Chad Bettis, Texas Tech, RHP, Jr., 6-1, 211, Lubbock, Texas/Monterey
Bettis retired the first 13 Gamecock batters that he faced in Tech’s season opener against Jacksonville State.  He went on to log seven innings, allowing just one run on four hits and struck out four.  Bettis faced 25 batters in the contest.
