Top 100 Countdown: Number 13 Michael Choice (UT-Arlington)

MichaelChoiceHeadshot The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the list today with number 13 in our countdown with junior outfielder Michael Choice from UT-Arlington. He is from Arlington Texas and attended Mansfield Timberview High School. He hit hit .506 as a senior with 42 hits, 17 stolen bases and six home runs while hitting .443 as a junior with 35 hits, nine stolen bases and two homers en route to earning first team All-District 15-4A honors as a junior second baseman. He was also a first team All-District 15-4A pick as a sophomore catcher.

Michael decided to continue his baseball career at nearby Texas-Arlington. He made an immediate impact in the lineup as he appeared in 50 games as he led the Mavericks in the three triple crown categories with a .376 average, seven homers, and 51 RBI. He picked up several awards including Rivals.com Freshman All-American, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association First Team Freshman All-American, Baseball America Second Team Freshman All-American, Louisville MichaelChoiceActionShot Slugger/Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Freshman All-American, while picking up Southland Conference Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-Southland Conference.

Choice continued his strong college career during his sophomore season in 2009 when he finished third on the team with a .413 average as he played in all 56 games. He led the team with 11 homers while finishing second on the team with 52 RBI. He won two awards as he was named 2009 American Baseball Coaches Association Second Team South Central All-Region and to 2009 First Team All-Southland Conference team. He played the summer of 2009 with the USA Collegiate National Team where he played in 23 games including starting 18 of them. He had a .350 average while hitting three homers and driving in 13 runs. Baseball America rated him as the 8th best prospect from the 2009 USA Collegiate National Team.

Choice already picking up awards for the 2010 season as he has been named a Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball Newspaper second team preseason All-American and NCBWA third team preseason All-American.
