Columbia Hosts Indoor Clinic with the WHEELS School

NEW YORK – After a semester-long partnership with the WHEELS middle school in Washington Heights, Columbia’s baseball team hosted a clinic in the University Gym in December, teaching the youngsters the finer points of the game.
Hitting, pitching and fielding were each on display during the clinic as a number of the Lions chipped in to share their skills with the kids. After cancelling a clinic earlier in the year due to rain, Columbia head coach Brett Boretti offered to set up a date indoors that would let the kids bat in the cages and hang out with their college friends one more time before the holidays.
Seton Hall Baseball Adopts Connor Mackay Through “Friends Of Jaclyn”

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Prior to tip-off of the men’s basketball game against VMI on Saturday, December 12, the Seton Hall baseball team welcomed Connor Mackay to their squad through the "Friends of Jaclyn" Organization. Over 40 members, including head coach Rob Sheppard joined Connor and his family inside the Prudential Center’s Goal Bar for breakfast before watching the Pirates’ basketball team defeat the Keydets 134-107.
South Carolina’s Ebert “unlikely” to start season
South Carolina senior first baseman Nick Ebert will likely be on the sidelines at the start of the season. Ebert is currently academically ineligible after getting an incomplete in one of his fall classes. The four players competing for his spot in the lineup are seniors Jeffery Jones and Parker Bangs, junior Robert Beary and sophomore Michael Roth.
Harper impresses in First Game
One of the biggest stories since the 2009 MLB Draft is Bryce Harper who is expected to be the next “big” thing in college baseball. Harper is expected to go number 1 in the 2010 MLB Draft in June as he decided to skip his final two years of high school to play for College of Southern Nevada making him eligible for the upcoming draft.

Dallas Baptist, San Jose State, & Oral Roberts Release 2010 Schedules
The Dallas Baptist Patriots, preseason ranked #40 by Collegiate Baseball, have released their 2010 baseball schedule. Dallas Baptist enters their third season under the guidance of head coach Daniel Heefner, who guided the Patriots to their first ever NCAA Regional appearance in 2008 and a 38-17 overall record during the 2009 campaign.

Army releases 2010 Schedule

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army head coach Joe Sottolano views the non-league portion of his team’s schedule each year as important training ground for the Patriot League wars that await his team later in the spring.
That’s one of the reasons Sottolano annually builds one of the toughest non-league slate of games in the conference and one of the driving forces behind his team’s dramatic improvement throughout the course of each season.
Based on this year’s schedule, which was released on Friday, the 2010 season should follow that same formula.

USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches Poll
USA Today/ESPN finish the Preseason rankings today with as they release their Top 25 which is led by Texas coming in at number 1 receiving 18 out of 31 first place votes. Texas finished last season with a second place finish in the College World Series. LSU defeated the Longhorns in the College World Series to bring home the title and come in at number 2 in the poll. 2010 MAC Preseason Coaches Poll

Cleveland, Ohio – Defending MAC Regular Season Champion Bowling Green and defending West Division Champion Ball State have been chosen by the league’s head coaches to win their respective divisions, released today by the league office. The Cardinals were also selected by six of the leagues head coaches to take home the 2010 MAC Tournament title.
The Falcons were followed by 2009 MAC Tournament Champion Kent State in the East, while Ohio was picked to finish third. Miami was selected to finish in fourth place, while Akron was tabbed to place fifth. Buffalo rounded out this year’s East Division predictions.
