Louisville announces fourth round of Signees

CodyEge LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville baseball head coach Dan McDonnell announced the signing of outfielder and left-handed pitcher Cody Ege (Cherokee, Iowa), infielder Adam Engel (Loveland, Ohio) and left-handed pitcher and first baseman Brad Hedden (Succasunna, N.J.) to National Letters-of-Intent during the 2010 early signing period.

Missouri Announces 2010 Schedule

TimJamiesonMissouri Mizzou Baseball has released its schedule for the 2010 season, which will get underway on Feb. 19 against Gonzaga at the Collegiate Cactus Classic in Tucson, Ariz. On the schedule are 29 games at Taylor Stadium, 14 road matchups and 12 neutral site contests.

UCSB releases 2010 Schedule

MarioHollandsUCSB SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara baseball team released its 2010 schedule on Thursday, featuring 28 home games, 12 opponents who finished last season at .500 or better and nine games against teams that made the 2009 NCAA Regionals. The schedule pits UCSB against teams that had a combined .532 winning percentage last season. Four of UCSB’s opponents won 40 games last year while six others won at least 30 games.

CBB Interview with Dan McDonnell (Louisville)

Baseball Headshots The College Baseball Blog continues our series of interviews with coaches from around the nation. We check in today with Louisville head coach Dan McDonnell who is entering his fourth season in charge of the program. He had a magical run in the 2007 season leading the Cardinals to the College World Series in his first campaign. He led them back to the tournament in 2008 while bringing them in 2009 to the Fullerton Super Regional. Dan spent the summer of 2009 as an assistant coach with the USA Collegiate National Team where they went 19-5.

Top 100 Countdown: Number 41 Tyler Holt (Florida State)

TylerHoltFSU The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the list today with number 41 in our countdown with FSU junior outfielder Tyler Holt. He is from Gainesville Florida where he attended Gainesville High School. He won four letters from GHS where he had an outstanding career. He picked up third team All-State as a freshman, second team All-State as a junior, and first team All-State as a sophomore and senior. His senior season saw him have an outstanding campaign where he had a .608 average with six homers, 42 RBI, and 32 stolen bases. Holt was also solid off the field holding down a 3.6 GPA in high school including being a member of the Spanish Honor Society and National Honor Society.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro baseball team secured the commitment of 12 student-athletes during the early signing period, coach Mike Gaski announced on Wednesday. The group includes seven players from North Carolina, three from Florida, and one from Maryland and South Carolina.

UT-San Antonio Announces 2010 Schedule

ShermanCorbett SAN ANTONIO, TX — UTSA head baseball coach Sherman Corbett announced Wednesday his program’s 2010 schedule. Highlighted by six teams that played in the 2009 NCAA Tournament (Baylor, Sam Houston State, Texas, Texas A&M, TCU, Texas State), a full slate of 33 Southland Conference games and 26 home tilts, the ledger features a total of 52 contests this spring.

“This will be yet another challenging schedule for our program,” said Corbett, who begins his 10th season this spring. “Not only do we play six clubs that played in the postseason last year, but we also have several tough road contests that will prepare us for the 33-game Southland Conference season. I’m looking forward to seeing how this year’s group handles this schedule and performs as the year progresses.”

West Virginia Announces 2010 Schedule

vanzantgreg MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University Director of Athletics Ed Pastilong has announced the 2010 baseball schedule, highlighted by 32 home games and five matchups against 2009 NCAA Tournament participants.

“Coach Greg Van Zant has put together one of his most competitive schedules to date,” Pastilong said. “We are looking forward to another year of exciting baseball that features several quality opponents and some very challenging early-season tournaments.”

West Virginia opens the season with three competitive tournaments. The Mountaineers start off with the Caravelle Resort Tournament in Conway, S.C., featuring games against 2009 NCAA Tournament qualifier Coastal Carolina, Kentucky and Virginia Tech on Feb. 19-21.

New Mexico State Announces Signees For 2011 Season

RockyWard LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State head baseball coach Rocky Ward recently announced that 11 student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent to attend school and play baseball at NM State starting the fall of 2010.

Although, these student-athletes won’t play until the 2011 season they will begin attending classes as soon as they get to campus.  After a 44-17 finish in 2009 with a team that broke the school record for home runs and was second in the nation with 119, coach Ward is highly optimistic that this signing class is as strong as any other and will help to continue the Aggies’ success.

Akron releases 2010 Schedule

JeffHarwell AKRON, Ohio - Head coach Pat Bangtson and the Zips have released the 2010 baseball schedule. The Zips open the season with four consecutive tournaments, traveling to Las Cruces, N.M., Wilmington N.C. and Florida for preseason competition. The 56-game schedule opens on February 19th and will run through May 22nd. The Mid-American Conference tournament is slated for May 26th through 30th.

Samford releases 2010 Schedule

MasonMeredethSamford BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Home games against SEC opponents Auburn and Alabama, and against Big 10 opponents Michigan State and Minnesota highlight Samford’s 2010 baseball schedule, released by head coach Casey Dunn on Tuesday.

“We are excited about our schedule, especially our home schedule,” Dunn said. “We were able to get Alabama and Auburn in home-and-homes again this year. We feel like it is important for our program to play the teams in our state, including UAB, Troy and Jacksonville State.”

Belmont releases 2010 Schedule
