Veazey fighting back
Athens Banner-Herald writer David Ching has a fantastic article on Georgia freshman Chance Veazey. He got into a motor vehicle accident on October 28th when his motorscoter crashed into a car. Veazey suffered scrapes, bruises and punctured lung but the biggest injury was a spinal cord fracture which would leave him paralyzed.

Top 100 Countdown: Number 25 Austin Wates (Virginia Tech)
The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 25 in our countdown with Virginia Tech outfielder/first baseman Austin Wates. He is from Richmond Virginia and attended St. Christopher’s high school. In his senior season, he had a .449 batting average with seven homers and 21 RBI. He earned all-prep, all-state, and all-metro honors as a senior.

The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 26 in our countdown with UCLA sophomore RHP Trevor Bauer. He is from Valencia California and attended Hart High School. He ended up picking up two letters as he had an outstanding junior season which saw him go 12-0 with a 0.79 ERA while striking out 106 batters and walking 15 in 70.2 innings. As a junior, he earned first-team All-CIF Southern Section Division I honors and first-team All-Southern Section accolades from the California Baseball Coaches Association (CBCA).

South Alabama releases 2010 Baseball Schedule

MOBILE, Ala. - University of South Alabama baseball head coach Steve Kittrell announced the Jags’ 2010 regular season schedule Wednesday afternoon. The 56-game slate features 32 home games, including the 25th annual South Alabama Classic.
"I think it’s a very competitive non-conference schedule, and it should prepare us for Sun Belt Conference play, which is getting better every year," Kittrell said. "We’re excited about the challenges ahead and look forward to starting practice on Jan. 29."
Top 100 Countdown: Number 27 Preston Tucker (Florida)
The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 27 Florida sophomore first baseman Preston Tucker. He is from Tampa Florida and attended Plant High School. He had an outstanding senior season which saw him hit .468 with 46 runs batted in and nine home runs. He was named honorable mention Louisville Slugger All-American when he earned first-team all-state in Class 5A for the second season. During his junior season, he was even better with a .561 average with a school-record 51 runs batted in, 34 runs, nine homers, nine doubles and three triples. He won Hillsborough County’s Triple Crown and named to The Tampa Tribune All-Hillsborough County first-team and was a first-team all-state selection.
Cal signs seven for 2010-2011 Season

BERKELEY, CALIF. – The University of California baseball program has signed seven in-state athletes to national letters of intent – featuring four pitchers (three of which are also position players), a catcher, a shortstop and an outfielder – it was announced by Cal head coach David Esquer.
The incoming class for fall 2010 includes Vince Bruno, a left-handed hitting junior college outfielder from Concord (Los Medanos Junior College); Derek Campbell, a shortstop from Irvine (Mater Dei High School) and Eric Jaffe, a right-handed pitcher/first baseman from Oakland’s Bishop O’Dowd High School.
Quinnipiac signs Three for 2010-2011 Season

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University baseball head coach Dan Gooley has announced National Letter of Intents from Ryan Walsh (Stanford, Conn.), Nicholas Fabrizio (Peabody, Mass.) and Michael Blumenthal (Dix Hills, N.Y.). Walsh and Fabrizio, a pair of right-handed pitchers, and Blumenthal, an outfielder, will join the Bobcats for the 2011 season.
"I am extremely pleased and excited to have three outstanding student-athletes joining our family at Quinnipiac University," Dan Gooley said.
Top 100 Countdown: Number 28 Jarrett Parker (Virginia)
The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 28 junior outfielder Jarrett Parker from Virginia. He is from Stafford Virginia and attended Colonial Forge High School. His senior season saw him hit .470 with 12 homers, 27 RBI, 32 runs and 12 stolen bases. He picked up several honors including First-team All-Commonwealth District, All-Northwest Region, All-Area, and Second Team All-State. He participated in the Cal Ripken Senior League after his senior season where he finished with a .311 batting average which was fifth in the league. He was also named to the All-League Team and was a starting outfielder in the All-Star game.
Big Decision coming for Clemson’s Parker
Paul Strelow of The State has a good article about Clemson junior outfielder Kyle Parker’s big decision coming up in the near future. Parker is also the starting quarterback on the Clemson football team where he is set to finish up his first season behind center. He is likely going to be a high selection in the 2010 MLB Draft if he tells a potential team that he will commit fully to baseball.
