Boston College releases 2010 Schedule

Santa Clara releases 2010 Schedule

MarkOBrienSCU SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara University’s baseball program announced its 2010 schedule today. The 55-game slate, released by ninth-year head coach Mark O’Brien, begins February 19-21, with a home series against the University of Nevada.

The Broncos will host 29 games at its state-of-the-art on-campus facility, Stephen Schott Stadium. Stanford visits Santa Clara on April 13 and 26. SCU will also host four of its seven West Coast Conference series and the four-team Jack Gifford Classic, March 11-14.

Creighton releases 2010 Schedule

CreightonBaseball OMAHA, Neb. – Eleven games in Rosenblatt Stadium’s final season, games against five NCAA Tournament participants and three meetings with local rival Nebraska highlight this year’s 2010 Creighton Baseball schedule, which was released late Monday.

The Jays kick-off its 54 game schedule on Feb. 20 with a doubleheader in Conway, Ark. against Central Arkansas and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. The Bluejays will start the season with a 21-game road trip before playing its home opener against Indiana State on April 2 at Rosenblatt Stadium.

Villanova releases 2010 Schedule

VillanovaBaseball VILLANOVA, Pa.–The spring schedule for the 2010 season has been finalized and was released today, as Villanova will begin its 56-game regular season schedule on Friday, February 19. The team’s schedule includes 29 games against non-conference opponents in addition to the 27-game BIG EAST slate.

The highlight of the non-conference schedule is the Wildcats first appearance in the Big Ten/BIG EAST Baseball Challenge in the Tampa area in late February. Villanova will face 2009 Big Ten champion Indiana in the second of three games at the tournament, while also taking on Purdue and Iowa.

Arkansas Pine Bluff’s Kevin Edwards passes away

KevinEdwards Arkansas Pine Bluff pitcher Kevin Edwards died on Saturday evening after being involved in a single car accident. Edwards was driving on Interstate Highway 57 when he struck the wall and overturned. He has been a member of the Golden Lions baseball team for the last two seasons. He went 0-4 with a 10.27 ERA in 13 appearances and five starts last season. Funeral Service plans are not available at this time but I recommend checking the Arkansas Pine Bluff athletics website for the most up to date information.

Top 100 Countdown: Number 50 Bryan Morgado (Tennessee)

BryanMorgado The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the list today with number 50 in our countdown with junior LHP Bryan Morgado of Tennessee. He is from Miami Florida where he graduated from Florida Christian High School. His senior season saw him lead the team to a 29-2 overall record and win a state title. He went a competent 9-1 with a 0.76 ERA as a junior in 2005 with 117 strikeouts in 67.1 innings pitched. The Boston Red Sox selected him in the 2006 MLB Draft in the 34th round but he decided to head to Tennessee.
