Furman signs Eight for 2010-2011 Season

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Furman head baseball coach Ron Smith today announced the signing of eight players to national letters of intent, including six from South Carolina.

"We are very happy with this group and pleased we could stay in state for several of them," said Smith on Tuesday. "Coach (Britt) Reames and coach (Jeff) Whitfield deserve a tremendous amount of credit for identifying these fine young men and their talent and getting them to Furman."

Oregon State Early Signee Profile: Jake Rodriguez

Jake Rodriguez recently signed his national letter of intent to join the Oregon State baseball team for the 2011 season. He is a native of Elk Grove, Calif., and attends Elk Grove High School

Rodriguez is rated as the No. 102 high school prospect in the nation by www.pgcrosschecker.com. He has earned all-conference honors in each of his three years and all-city twice. He played the 2008 USA U-16 Gold Medal winning club and served as team captain. Rodriguez batted .522 as a junior, collecting five home runs, 10 doubles, four triples, 12 stolen bases and 47 RBI. As a sophomore, he batted .536, posting a home run, four doubles, seven triples, five stolen bases and 21 RBI. In his first year at Elk Grove, he hit .358 with eight doubles, four triples and 27 RBI.

Cal-State Northridge adds three for 2010-2011 Season

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – With their previous two recruiting classes ranked in the top-40 alongside a number of elite college baseball programs throughout the nation, the Cal State Northridge Matadors have taken a giant step towards receiving accolades once again as they begin to assemble their 2011 recruiting class.

Seniors Harley Holt (Kamehameha HS/Honolulu, Hawaii), Jeff McNeil (Nipomo HS/Nipomo, Calif.), and Chester Pak (Diamond Bar HS/Diamond Bar, Calif.) have all signed national letters of intent to compete for Head Coach Steve Rousey and his baseball team next season.

Western Carolina signs 13 for 2010-2011 Season

Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina third-year head baseball coach Bobby Moranda today announced the signing of 13 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent (NLI) to join the Catamount baseball program for the 2011 season.

The 13 signees represent five different states including eight in-state products, two from Georgia and one each from South Carolina, Florida and Tennessee. Seven of those inked have experience on the mound.

"The quality of this recruiting class is a direct result of the hard work and efforts of our recruiting coordinator Alan Beck and Associate Head Coach Dave Haverstick," said Moranda. "This is the first signing class that was molded properly throughout a one and half, to two year process. Very early in the plan, we indentified our specific needs, found the prospects to fill that void, got them on campus and made offers."
