Oklahoma University Inks 11 in Early Signing Period

NORMAN, Okla. — Oklahoma baseball head coach Sunny Golloway announced the signing of 11 student athletes as part of the 2010 signing class on Wednesday. The recruits signed National Letters of Intent on the first day of the early signing period and are set to join the Sooners next fall.

KR: Top Hitters of 2000s

DustinAckleyUNC Kendall Rogers of Rivals.com recently put out his list of the Top Hitters during the 2000’s which is led by Dustin Ackley of North Carolina. He hit over .400 in each of his three seasons in Chapel Hill including playing in the College World Series during each season.

Illinois State releases 2011 Early Signees

MarkKingston NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State has signed seven baseball student-athletes to National Letters of Intent, including four of Prep Baseball Report’s top-25 players in the state of Illinois, the Redbirds’ coaching staff announced Wednesday. Illinois State’s four signees in the top-25 are more than any other university.

The Redbirds signed three pitchers – Joe Claver (Downers Grove, Ill.), Johnny Lieske (Machesney Park, Ill.) and Dan Savas (Rosemont, Ill.) – two infielders – Bryan Huff (Bloomington, Ill.) and Brock Stewart (Normal, Ill.) – a catcher – Mike Hollenbeck (Joliet, Ill.) – and an outfielder – Eric Aguilera(Cary, Ill.). Lieske is the top pitcher and No. 2 prospect in the state according to Prep Baseball Report and is joined by Hollenbeck (16), Claver (17) and Stewart (23) in the publication’s top-25 rankings.

Cal-State Fullerton to hold Fall Series starting Today

TylerPillFullerton Fullerton, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton baseball Head Coach Dave Serrano would like to invite all friends, family and fans out to Goodwin Field this week to watch the 2010 baseball team as they compete in a best-of-three "championship series" to conclude the official fall workout period.

Each game will be a six-inning affair between the Orange squad, headed up by assistant coach Sergio Brown, and the Blue squad, led by assistant coach Gregg Wallis.

Rider to host 2011 MAAC Championship

MercerCountyWaterfrontPark LAWRENCEVILLE—Rider University will serve as host for the 2011 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Baseball Championship Tournament, it was announced by the MAAC.

The four-team, double elimination tournament will be held at Waterfront Park, home of the Trenton Thunder, for the third time. Rider and Waterfront Park hosted the 2008 and 2009 MAAC Championships.

Top 100 Countdown: Number 70 Rob Rasmussen (UCLA)

RobRasmussenHeadshot The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the list today with number 70 in our countdown with UCLA junior LHP Rob Rasmussen. He picked up four letters at Pasadena Polytechnic School in Pasadena California. He had a career record of 38-2 with an ERA of 1.04 while striking out 492 batters in only 248.2 innings. In his entire high school career, he only gave up 37 earned runs. He picked up several awards in his high school career including being named a third-team All-American by Baseball America and first-team All-State honors from CalHi Sports.

Kentucky releases 2010 Schedule

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky baseball program will take on 15 NCAA Tournament teams from 2009 and host 29 games at Cliff Hagan Stadium, as part of its 2010 schedule, released Tuesday by head coach Gary Henderson.

Mississippi State to hold Fall Series starting on Wednesday

JohnCohen STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Mississippi State baseball team puts the finishing touches on its 2009 fall practices with the 2009 Maroon-White World Series over the next week at Dudy Noble Field. The five-game series will run November 11-17, with games on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday.

Second-year Bulldog skipper John Cohen and the MSU coaching staff will divide the squad for the Maroon-White World Series, set to begin Wednesday, Nov. 11 with a 3:30 p.m. game. Game times are also set for 3:30 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. Saturday, 2:30 p.m. Sunday and 4 p.m. Tuesday in the series finale.

We continue the list today with number 71 in our countdown with The Citadel junior RHP Asher Wojciechowski. He is from Beaufort South Carolina where he attended Beaufort High School. He picked up three letters in baseball and picked up All-Region honors for his accomplishments.
