Top 100 Countdown: Number 72 Chris Hernandez (Miami FL)
The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 72 in our countdown with Miami (FL) junior LHP Chris Hernandez. He is from Miami Florida and went to high school at Monsignor Pace where he was a four year letterwinner including being named All-State twice. His senior season saw him go 7-2 with a 0.87 ERA while striking out 106 batters. The Detroit Tigers selected him in the 14th round of the 2007 draft but could not come to terms with him which sent Chris to the University of Miami.

Delaware State Baseball visits Local School

DOVER, Del. (November 4, 2009) — On Monday, November 2, the Delaware State Baseball continued DSU’s commitment to the local community when the team visited the Campus Community School.
The team spent the afternoon, spending time with first-grade students, talking about baseball and reading to one another. The Hornets began the afternoon reading to the first-grade class. The elementary students then followed by choosing to read to the DSU players.
Former Pepperdine coach John Scolinos Passes Away

MALIBU, Calif. – John Scolinos, head baseball coach of the Pepperdine Waves from 1946 to 1960, died Saturday morning at the age of 91.
Funeral arrangements are unknown at this time.
Scolinos won 263 games in 15 seasons as the Waves’ skipper and his clubs posted an overall winning percentage of .546. Only Dave Gorrie recorded more victories at Pepperdine, accumulating 409 triumphs between 1979 and 1988.
Top 100 Countdown: Number 73 Sammy Solis (San Diego)

We continue the list today with number 73 in our countdown with San Diego LHP Sammy Solis. He is a 6-5 228 pound lefty out of Agua Frias High School and Litchfield Park Arizona. He had a career record of 25-8 in high school while recording 398 strikeouts, which is second most in state history at the 4A division in Arizona. Heading into his senior campaign, he was named a preseason All-American by Rawlings.
Fall Ball Recap for November 7th
ULM to hold Fall Series starting Monday

MONROE, La. – The ULM baseball team kicked off its annual Hackers Classic week with the release of the rosters for the Maroon & Gold Blood Series on Saturday. The teams play a best-of-five series beginning Monday evening with the losing team of the series donating blood to an area blood bank.
The teams will play at 6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with the final game of the series scheduled for Sunday at 4 p.m. All five games will be played even if the series has already been decided.
Gerhart leading the Cardinal on the Football field
Stanford fullback/outfielder Toby Gerhart has been outstanding on the football field as he has 29 career touchdowns which is second all-time. He is also third on the rushing yardage list with 2,645 yards which is only 295 behind Brad Muster for the record. Gerhart has also been solid on the baseball diamond as he has hit .274 with 16 homers and 68 RBI over his first three seasons. He has stated that his dream is to play in the NFL but might have also have a chance to play in the Majors.
Miami to hold Fall Series on Monday

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Three weeks into fall practice, the University of Miami baseball team is set to play its Third Annual Orange-Green Fall World Series next week at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. The best-of-three intrasquad scrimmage series begins on Monday, Nov. 9, followed by game two on Wednesday, Nov. 11 and game three on Friday, Nov. 13.
Top 100 Countdown: Number 74 Daniel Renken (Cal-State Fullerton)
The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 74 in our countdown with Cal-State Fullerton junior RHP Daniel Renken. He is a 6’4 195 pound righty out of Orange Lutheran High School and from Cypress California. He was a three year letter winner for head coach Mike Grahovac with a career record of 17-7 including an impressive senior season where he went 8-3 with a 1.95 ERA as he was named All-Orange County. The Colorado Rockies selected him in the 35th round in 2007 but were unable to come to terms with him.
