Georgia Tech signs 18 for 2010-2011 season

ATLANTA – – Eighteen of the nation’s top high school baseball standouts, including three prep All-Americans, have signed National Letters of Intent to play baseball at Georgia Tech beginning next fall, head coach Danny Hall announced Wednesday.

 

"I am excited to announce that we have signed 18 high school players for the 2010 class," head coach Danny Hall said. "Bryan Prince, our recruiting coordinator, and Tom Kinkelaar, our pitching coach, did a tremendous job of recruiting one of the best classes at Tech in recent history. As always, we must educate them as to how important a role in college baseball can play in their lives."

Sam Houston State signs four for 2010-2011 season

Sam Houston State head baseball coach Mark Johnson has announced four Texas high school players have signed letters of intent to play for the Bearkats. The class includes three left-handed pitchers and one right-handed pitcher.

Lefties Caleb Smith, Huntsville High School; Cody Dickson, Mansfield Summit High School and Matt Walker, Robinson High School will join right-handed pitcher Josh Ganze, Angleton High School in 2011.

ATHENS, Ga. — Pitchers Taylor Hicks and Joe Robinson along with first baseman/outfielder Austin Wheeler all have signed a national letter-of-intent to attend UGA, Bulldog coach David Perno announced Wednesday.

Western Michigan signs four for 2010-2011 season

KALAMAZOO, Mich.– Western Michigan baseball has announced that Patrick Borlik (RHP), A.J. Dokey (INF/OF), Steve Laudicina (LHP) and Jared Theisen (INF/OF) have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Western Michigan University and compete for the Broncos in 2010-11.

“I am happy to announce the four new players who have signed the National Letter of Intent to join our Bronco family,” WMU head coach Randy Ford said. “One team need was to add to our pitching staff and we did that with the addition of Patrick Borlik and Steve Laudicina. Other team needs have been met with the additions of Jared Theisen and A.J. Dokey. These two position players will help us in the future at shortstop and in the outfield.”

Baylor adds Nate Goodwin to 2010-2011 Freshman class

Baylor baseball will welcome an eighth student-athlete to its 2010 recruiting class, head coach Steve Smith announced Wednesday, as Nate Goodwin (Overland Park, Kan.) will don a Bears uniform in 2011.

Goodwin, who is an infielder/catcher, hit .357 with one home run, seven doubles, four triples, 21 RBI and 14 stolen bases for Rockhurst (Mo.) High School last season.

South Alabama announces Five Additional Signees

University of South Alabama baseball head coach Steve Kittrell announced the signing of five more student-athletes to national letters-of-intent Wednesday. Combined with the four signees announced Monday, the Jags’ 2011 class stands at nine student-athletes.

All five of Wednesday’s signees will join the USA program after completing their senior years of high school. The list includes a pair of infielders, two left-handed pitchers and one right-handed pitcher.

"All five of these guys are outstanding high school players and outstanding young men off the field.," Kittrell said. "We’re especially pleased about all the youth in our signing class."

The two infielders are third baseman Daniel Miles (Pascagoula, Miss/Pascagoula HS) and Logan Kirkland (Alma, Ala./Alma Bryant HS), who can play anywhere on the infield.

Nicholls State Adds Eleven in Early Signing Period

The Nicholls State University baseball team continued its rebuilding efforts under head coach Chip Durham as the Colonels announced the addition of 11 new recruits as Nicholls finalized its 2009 early signing class on Wednesday.

"I really want to compliment the job that Seth Thibodeaux and Chris Prothro did putting this class together. They did a great job putting together a signing class that will be very well-respected and leave us in a good position for the next couple of years," Durham said. "We signed some more high school kids that we think we’ll be able to develop and grow, and the four junior college kids should be able to help us right away. We did a really good job getting some more local kids into the program."

UT-Arlington Baseball Inks Eight in Early Signing Period

UT Arlington head baseball coach Darin Thomas announced Wednesday that eight student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent during the early signing period. The signing class includes five high school standouts and three junior college prospects. Seven of the student-athletes are from Texas with one coming from Arizona.

“I’m extremely happy about our early signing class,” Thomas said. “We received commitments from quality players that are also committed in the classroom. I want to thank our recruiting coordinator, Jay Sirianni, and coach Mark Flatten on all their efforts with this recruiting class.”

Memphis adds Erik Schoenrock to 2010-2011 class

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Perhaps the most unique signee of his career, University of Memphis head coach Daron Schoenrock announced today that Collierville High School left-hander Erik Schoenrock signed his National Letter of Intent to wear the Blue and Gray beginning in the 2010-11 season.

"Having seen this young man grow up, it’s remarkable to see the potential that Erik possesses," the Tiger skipper said. "I left the recruiting process up to my recruiting coordinator Jerry Zulli and pitching coach/associate head coach Fred Corral, and both feel that if not for the back injury that sidelined Erik for his entire junior season, he would have been one of the top left-handers in the state of Tennessee. He has `grown up’ with Tiger Baseball and he’ll be a great fit for our system. He’s a huge fan of all Tiger athletics so it was an easy sell. Coach Hopkins has done an outstanding job with Erik’s development."

Sam Kelley added to UAB 2010-2011 Recruits

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The UAB baseball program has announced the signing of Sam Kelley, a pitcher and first baseman from Southern Academy in Moundville, Ala., to a National Letter of Intent.

As a junior this past spring, Kelley posted a .469 batting average at the plate with eight home runs and 26 RBI for Southern Academy. The left-hander was equally impressive on the mound, finishing the season with a 7-1 record and a 1.31 ERA. He was selected to participate in the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association 2009 All-Star Weekend.

Southern Miss adds two more for 2010-2011

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss baseball program added two additional players for the 2011 class, head coach Scott Berry announced today, bringing the total to six players already for 2011.

"I feel like we have added two more young players that can help us compete at the highest level of collegiate baseball," head coach Scott Berry said. "I like the way this class is taking shape and fell like we have a lot of young talent heading to Hattiesburg."

Ole Miss adds two more for 2010-2011

OXFORD, Miss. Ole Miss continued to add to its signing class with the signing of Nathan Foriest and Preston Overbey to the class of 2010, head coach Mike Bianco announced on Wednesday.

The pair of signees from the Volunteer State join previously announced signees Will Allen, Austin Anderson, Ryan Bolden, Casey Greene, Austin Hartzog, Jimel Judon, Casey Mulholland, Mike Mayers and Bobby Wahl.

Jared Reeves added to Alabama Recruiting Class for 2011 Season

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama baseball team added junior college infielder Jared Reaves to its list of signees on Wednesday afternoon, as announced by head baseball coach Mitch Gaspard.

Reaves, a sophomore infielder at Southern Union Community College in Wadley, Ala., is the 11th player to sign with the Crimson Tide during the Nov. 11-18 early signing period.  He is an excellent hitter and solid defender and is the lone junior college player to ink with the Tide during this signing period. His junior college coach is Jabo Jordan.

UC Davis adds two for 2010-2011 season

DAVIS, Calif. – Matt Nichol and Craig Lanza have each signed National Letters of Intent with the UC Davis baseball program and will join the Aggies for the 2011 season, head coach Rex Peters announced Wednesday.
