Furman 2010 Schedule Released

IanParry GREENVILLE, S.C. — Thirty three home games, including five contests at Greenville’s Fluor Field and clashes against Clemson, South Carolina, and Georgia highlight Furman’s 2010 baseball schedule, which was released today by Paladin head coach Ron Smith.

Furman will open the season on Friday, Feb. 19 when it entertains Michigan State at Fluor Field in a 4:00 p.m. game. The next day the Paladins face Miami University, also a Fluor Field, before wrapping up a challenging first weekend at Clemson on Sunday, Feb. 21.

CBB Top 100 Countdown: Number 91 Leon Landry (LSU)

LandryHeadshot The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the list today with number 91 in our countdown with LSU junior outfielder Leon Landry. He is 5’11 and 197 pounds out of Baton Rouge, LA and Baker High School. He was a three sport athlete in high school playing basketball, football, and baseball. He excelled in baseball as he was named first team all-district in three consecutive seasons as a pitcher and infielder. Perfect Game rated him as one of the top players in the Southeast region which saw him get selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 36th round. He declined to sign with the Reds and headed to LSU.

LA Tech releases 2010 Schedule

New Orleans releases 2010 Schedule

JeradComarda NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans baseball team will play two schools that reached the College World Series last year, highlighting the 2010 schedule released on Tuesday.

The Privateers will play 12 games against schools that reached NCAA postseason play last season, including three games against CWS participants LSU and Southern Mississippi.

2010 Clemson Schedule Released

JackLeggettClemson Clemson, SC – Thirty-five home games, 27 games against 2009 NCAA Tournament teams, and three games at Fluor Field in Greenville, SC highlight Clemson’s 56-game, 2010 regular-season baseball schedule, released Tuesday. The Tigers, who will play 17 of their first 21 games at home, will also play South Carolina in a three-game series at three different sites over one weekend in early March.

Checking in with FSU’s Rafael Lopez

RafaelLopezFSU Florida State Sports Information Student Assistant Ultima Rogers continues his series of interviews with FSU baseball players today with Rafael Lopez. He is a redshirt-junior who spent his redshirt freshman season with Boston College before transferring to Indian River Community College. He made the transition at FSU to the catching position last season and had his ups and downs.

KR talks about Rising and Falling Programs

DannyHultzen Rivals.com College Baseball editor Kendall Rogers has put out an article detailing five programs that are rising in prestige and five that are starting to fall off the map. The programs that he sees coming on are: TCU, Virginia, East Carolina, Kansas and Ohio State. The five programs that are starting to fall are: Arizona, Baylor, Tulane, Nebraska, and California. He has some interesting commentary on each team as I can see his reasoning on all the programs except for one in Baylor.

We continue the list today with number 92 in our countdown with Clemson sophomore LHP/outfielder Will Lamb who is listed at 6’4 and 170 pounds. He is from Seaford Virginia and attended York High School where he lettered in baseball for all four years and picked up a letter in basketball. He was named All-State in Virginia as a junior and senior. In his junior season, he hit .508 with a 4-2 record and a 1.60 ERA on the mound.

San Diego State, Siena Post 2010 Schedules

TonyGwynn Head coach Tony Gwynn has released the 2010 schedule for his San Diego State Aztecs.  The Aztecs will enter the 2010 campaign without Stephen Strasburg, the first overall selection in the 2009 MLB Draft.  SDSU will begin the season with six straight games at Tony Gwynn Stadium.  The Aztecs host Oklahoma and Indiana (Feb. 19-22) opening weekend before a mid-week contest with UC Riverside (Feb. 23) and a split four-game weekend series against cross-town rival San Diego (Feb. 25-28).
