CBB Top 100 Countdown: Number 85 Robert Morey (Virginia)

We continue the list today with number 85 in our countdown with Virginia junior RHP Robert Morey. He is from Virginia Beach, Virginia and attended Cape Henry High School. He was a Four-time TCIS First-Team All-Conference member while having a 0.72 ERA with 129 strikeouts (2.26 K/9 IP) as senior.

Alabama releases 2010 Schedule

BamaPhoto TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama announced its 2010 college baseball schedule on Monday, which includes 32 games against Southeastern Conference teams and 22 games with teams that played in last year’s NCAA Tournament.

The list of 2009 NCAA Regional qualifiers includes Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Minnesota, Mississippi, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.  Of those eight teams, four played in NCAA Super Regionals and two advanced to the College World Series.

UNC Greensboro releases 2010 Schedule

UNCGSCHEDULE GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro will play 54 regular season games, including 19 of its first 21 games in the friendly confines of the UNCG Baseball Stadium as head coach Mike Gaski announced the 2010 baseball schedule on Monday afternoon.

The Spartans will open the season with a weekend series at home against Cleveland State on Feb. 19-21 before traveling to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take on returning College World Series participant North Carolina on Feb. 23 in the Spartans’ first midweek contest.

Southern Miss defeats William Carey 13-1 in Fall Ball Action

SouthernMiss The Southern Miss Golden Eagles baseball programs took on William Carey on Sunday afternoon in an exhibition game. The Golden Eagles walked away with an impressive 13-1 victory in 14 innings. Southern Miss played errorless baseball in the game while hitting two homers.

Pitt set to get New Baseball Facility

PittLogo The University of Pittsburgh is currently in the process of getting a new Olympic sports facility which will be used for the baseball, softball, and soccer programs. The baseball facility is expected to include hitting and pitching practice areas, team dugouts and a press box. Synthetic grass will allow the Panthers to play and practice throughout the year, while lighting will allow for evening games.

Tim Brown added to George Washington Staff

TimBrownGW WASHINGTON, DC – George Washington Head Baseball Coach Steve Mrowka has announced the addition of Tim Brown as an assistant coach. Brown spent the 2009 season as a volunteer assistant coach in his first year with the Colonials staff.

"The hiring of Tim Brown allows us to maintain some continuity in the coaching of our pitchers," said Mrowka. "Last season, Tim was our volunteer pitching coach and he did an excellent job in that role. I fully expect him to excel as the full-time pitching coach. His commitment to GW and outstanding work ethic will be a nice asset in our recruiting efforts as well."

CBB Top 100 Countdown: Number 86 Ben Koenigsfeld (Army)

BenKoenigsfeldArmyHeadshot The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the list today with number 86 in our countdown with Army junior two-way player Ben Koenigsfeld. He is from New Port Richey Florida and attended Ridgewood High School where he was a three sport standout in basketball and swimming in addition to baseball. He was a two-time conference selection while being named League Pitcher of the Year as a senior. He was selected for the Florida All-Star Game for his solid interscholastic career.

CBB Visit: Texas outscores Baylor 10-8 in a fall exhibition

URI takes part in Walk Now for Autism Event

URIBaseballAutismWalk The Rhode Island Rams baseball program recently took part in the Walk Now for Autism Event at Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island. The baseball program has a special connection to Autism as head coach Jim Foster’s daughter Delaney is affected by the disease. The team was some of the over 3,000 walkers who ended up raising over $191,000 for the cause. You can check out the full press release below.
