Dustin Coffman added to Indiana’s Coaching Staff

TracySmithIndiana BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana baseball team has added Dustin Coffman as a volunteer assistant coach, head coach Tracy Smith announced today. Coffman, who is a former student manager for the Hoosiers, assists in the strength training for the Hoosiers in addition to serving as the team’s first base coach.

"Dustin has demonstrated his passion and commitment to the IU baseball program the past two years as a student manager," Smith said. "Dustin is a baseball guy with a background in strength training which is an asset to our team."

Purdue adds to Coaching Staff

PurdueDougSchreiber WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue baseball program has added a pair of coaches to its staff, head coach Doug Schreiber announced. Jeff Duncan and Bobby Bartow have joined the staff to replace departed coaches Spencer Allen and Chadd Blasko.

"We’re very fortunate to have Jeff and Bobby join our program," Schreiber said. "They bring great energy to our team and have the extensive playing and coaching experience that will help us on the field and with recruiting."

Walla Walla gets West Coast League team

WestCoastLeague Walla Walla, Washington – After nearly 30 years, summer baseball in picturesque Walla Walla will be back at Borleske Stadium in 2010.

Pacific Baseball Ventures, LLC (PBV), a group of investors with strong ties to the Walla Walla community, announces today that they have been granted an expansion franchise in the West Coast League (WCL). The team will begin administrative operations in Walla Walla in November of 2009, and will play a full WCL schedule starting in June 2010. They will play home games at historic Borleske Stadium, bringing minor-league style baseball back to the park for the first time since 1983, when it last hosted the likes of Hall of Famers Ozzie Smith and Tony Gwynn.

Washington State releases 2010 Schedule

WashingtonStateCoach PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University baseball team is scheduled to play 22 games in 2010 against teams that participated in the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship last season, Cougar Head Coach Donnie Marbut announced, Thursday.

Of the 22 games, 16 will take place in nonconference and a dozen will be played at Bailey-Brayton Field. The Cougars will play Bethune-Cookman in Lubbock, Texas (Feb. 26-27), host Utah for four games (March 5-7), play three games at Texas A&M (March 12-14), travel to Wichita State for three games (March 19-21), host Gonzaga (March 23 and April 14), play at the Bulldogs (March 30 and May 18) and host three-game Pac-10 series against Arizona State (April 9-11) and Oregon State (April 23-25).

Houston opens Fall Practice

HoustonCougar HOUSTON - The month-long fall practice schedule is underway for the University of Houston baseball team. The Cougars began their fall workouts on Sept. 28, and the fall slate will conclude on Oct. 29.

UH will hold a scrimmage against Blinn College on Oct. 23 with the time to be announced. It will be the only fall action in preparation for the 55-game 2010 season. Practice will begin each afternoon at 2:30 p.m., while Saturday’s practice is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start. The team will be off on Sundays.

Georgia opens Fall Practice

GeorgiaFallPractice ATHENS—–The University of Georgia baseball team is conducting fall practice, and the annual Dogs-Pups series starts Sunday at Foley Field.

Along with the workouts, the team will have had 12 scrimmages before starting the Dogs-Pups series. Georgia head coach David Perno said he likes the competitive mentality and concentration he has seen in practice thus far, but the Bulldogs still have a ways to go.

"We are very excited to get started together as a team," said Prado. "Everyone looks bigger, stronger and faster. This group has a lot of veteran players that have played one or two years here and I expect to see a big improvement. We are just glad it is here."

Liberty Baseball Releases 2010 Schedule

Lynchburg, Va. – The Liberty baseball team will play 25 games against teams which won 30 or more games last season, highlighting the Flames’ 2010 schedule, released today.

The Flames are scheduled to meet George Mason, Elon, Kennesaw State, Duke, Virginia Tech, UNC Wilmington, James Madison, St. John’s, Manhattan, along with Big South members Coastal Carolina and Winthrop, all winners of 30-plus games from a year ago.

Florida releases 2010 Slate

FloridaBaseball The University of Florida baseball program and third-year head coach Kevin O’Sullivan announced its 2010 schedule on Wednesday. The Gators’ 56-game schedule features 34 games within the friendly confines of McKethan Stadium at Perry Field, where the squad compiled a 30-10 (.750) mark last season. UF has 30 games versus opponents who advanced to the NCAA Tournament, including home series against 2009 College World Series champion LSU and CWS participant Arkansas.

Virginia Tech releases 2010 schedule

PeterHughes BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech released its 2010 baseball schedule on Wednesday, and 22 games against 2009 NCAA Tournament participants, including 19 against top-25 teams, highlight the 56-game slate. There will be 31 games played at the Hokies’ English Field, including a 13-game homestand in early March.
