Illinois State set to start Fall Series on Saturday

Florida to hold scrimmage on Friday

GatorScrimmage The University of Florida baseball team will host an Orange & Blue Scrimmage on Friday, Oct. 16, at McKethan Stadium starting at 3:45 p.m. This event will give fans a sneak peek of head coach Kevin O’Sullivan’s squad in action and is part of Homecoming Weekend on campus leading up to Gator Growl 2009: Legends of The Swamp that begins at 7 p.m. in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Louisiana-Monroe releases 2010 Schedule

BoomerBlanchardULM MONROE, La.- Three games against 2009 College World Series teams, a regular season-ending series with rival Louisiana-Lafayette and in-state matchups against LSU and Tulane highlight the 2010 ULM baseball schedule released Thursday by Warhawk head coach Jeff Schexnaider.

"I feel that we have a great schedule that our fans will enjoy and that will help our team reach a Regional," Schexnaider said. "With 15 games against teams that played in the NCAA Tournament last season, the schedule provides us with the challenges we need to accomplish our goals."

Ole Miss closer Jake Morgan to miss 2010 season

JakeMorganOleMiss Ole Miss RHP Jake Morgan will miss the 2010 season due to Tommy John surgery on his pitching elbow. He finished last season with a 4-1 overall record with nine saves and a 3.24 ERA. He also struck out 55 batters in his 41.2 innings of work while only letting up seven walks.

Greg Mamula added to Cincinnati coaching staff

GregMamula CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati Baseball team has named Greg Mamula as an assistant coach, head coach Brian Cleary announced today. Mamula joins the staff after three years as the head coach at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. During his tenure, he averaged 41 wins per season while compiling an overall coaching record of 124-45 (.734).

Stephen F. Austin releases 2010 Schedule

BrettRogersSFA NACOGDOCHES, Texas - SFA head baseball coach Johnny Cardenas announced the upcoming 2010 schedule on Wednesday, a full 56-game schedule that includes SFA hosting its first-ever tournament on the season’s second weekend.

The `Jacks are slated to take on four teams that made an appearance in the national rankings a year ago and four that also made the NCAA Tournament. The 23-game non-conference schedule blends with 33 Southland games just one year after the conference sent multiple teams to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2004.

College of Charleston Fall World Series starts Friday

JoeyBergmanCoC The College of Charleston baseball team will host its annual Fall World Series this weekend at Patriots Point Stadium. 

Charleston, which is led by second-year head coach Monte Lee, finished 35-22 last season.  The Cougars return last season’s Southern Conference Player of the Year Joey Bergman.  Bergman hit .452 with 15 homers and 57 runs batted in.  Other returnees include DH Ryan Daniels (.363, 10 hr, 64 RBI) and former Wando standout CF Cole Rakar (.317, 12 hr, 46 RBI).

Vandy Fall Series begins Tonight

AlexHillardVandy NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt baseball will close out its fall practice slate with its annual Black and Gold Series starting this Thursday, October 15, at 6 p.m. at Hawkins Field.

The series, usually a three-game affair, was extended to five games by head coach Tim Corbin after the team missed the first four days of fall practice time due to weather.

We continue the list today with number 97 in our countdown with TCU sophomore infielder Taylor Featherston. He comes from Katy, Texas where he attended Taylor High School where he attended Taylor High School. He was a three year letter winner and was rated the 28th best prospect in Texas by Baseball America.
