Wright State to play Fall Series starting Tonight

WrightStateFallBall DAYTON, Ohio – The Wright State baseball team will look to close the fall out with another classic series, as the Green squad will challenge the Gold team at the annual Green versus Gold series. The series will kick off on Friday evening at 6:00 and continue with games on Saturday and Sunday at Nischwitz Stadium with the first preview of the 2010 squad that will look to defend its 2009 Horizon League Championship.

The series will kick off on Friday evening with the Gold squad – captained by Aaron Fields – taking on the Green team – captained by Travis LaMar – starting at 6:00. The pitching matchup for the opening game will feature freshman Cody Kopilchack on the mound for the Green and sophomore Casey Henn starting for the Gold. On Saturday, junior Michael Meintel will take the hill for the Green at 11:00 a.m. facing freshman Tanner Howell for the Gold. The Game 3 matchup will pit Alex Kaminsky for the Green starting opposite Max Friedman for the Gold squad at 10:00 a.m.

The Green team will feature Kaminsky, Kopilchack, LaMar and Meintel, along with bench coach Lee Valencheck who will miss the series due to injury. Freshman All-American close Michael Schum and Horizon League Newcomer of the Year Quentin Cate, along with Team USA selection Casey McGrew highlight the Green squad.

Also in the Green’s lineup will be pitcher Bryce DeWeese, junior college transferDan Marsh and sophomores Garrett Gray and Jake Hibber. Freshman Cameron Fagg, Justin Kopale, Sam Picchioti and Kevin Simms will round out the roster for the LaMar-captained Green squad.

On the Gold side, Friedman, Howell and Kaminsky join team captain Fields along with acting bench coaches Jon Durketand Michael Woytek. Relievers Tyler Hesket, Jordan Marker, Greg Robinson and Jordan Wolfe will round out the pitching staff.

The offense will be led by Fields and Second Team All-Horizon League selection R.J. Gundolff. Ryan Ashe, a Horizon League All-Tournament Team selection last season, will join sophomore’s Tristan Moore and Kyle Mossbarger in the outfield. Freshman Kody Krizman, along with seniors Sam Mote and Gerald Ogrinc will round out the roster for the Gold team.
