TurchinStadium NEW ORLEANS – The 2010 Tulane baseball team will play one of the most competitive schedules in school history with a 56-game national slate featuring teams from nine different conferences, 19 contests against 2009 postseason teams, 10 outings against in-state rivals and three first time opponents, and Green Wave fans will have the opportunity to watch 40 home games at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium, as announced today by Tulane head baseball coach Rick Jones.

Despite the increase in home games, Tulane Athletics is pleased to offer the same pricing as 2009 for all priority chairback seats, as well as reduced adult and youth bleacher season tickets (only $150.00 and $100.00, respectively). Additionally, all 2009 chairback season ticket holders who renew their tickets from last year and all new chairback season ticket holders will receive a free Tulane House Flag and team autographed baseball. All bleacher season ticket holders who renew their tickets from last year and all new bleacher season ticket holders will receive a free TU seat cushion.

Single-game tickets have been reduced for 2010 with all youth single-game tickets (both chairback and bleacher) available for only $5.00; all mid-week adult single-game tickets (chairback and bleacher) are only $5.00; as well as a new single-game Senior Citizen chairback for only $10.00 on the weekends.

Season ticket renewal packets will be mailed the week of November 2 with a renewal deadline of December 15. Additionally, priority seats will have a December 15 deadline for the applicable Tulane Athletics Fund (TAF) pledge and partial payment. The Green Wave will face some of the best teams in the nation throughout the 2010 campaign. The Wave’s postseason opponents include College World Series participants Southern Miss and LSU, defending national champion, NCAA Super Regional teams East Carolina, Rice and Ole Miss, as well as regional squads Boston College and Kansas.

As it does on an annual basis, Tulane will battle in-state rivals New Orleans (UNO), Southeastern Louisiana, Nicholls State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe and LSU, for state bragging rights. In Conference USA action, the Green Wave will host two of the top five finishers last season in Rice, the defending C-USA Tournament Champion, and long-time rival Southern Miss.

"We normally play a tough non-conference schedule, but we’ve upgraded to a higher level this season," Jones said. "First, we’re playing several teams in our state and there are so many great teams in our state. Secondly, we’re bringing in a two-game, mid-week series against Kansas, which our fans should enjoy. Game two is going to be a businessman special with a 1 p.m. start. We open up the season with Boston College and we will face Ole Miss, UNLV, from the Mountain West Conference, which is one of the most improved leagues, and a sound program in Lipscomb. This is one of the most attractive conference and non-conference schedules we’ve ever faced."

"I would encourage our fans to get their season tickets early because with 40 home games this is going to be a very exciting spring and one where the fans can get into an almost pro-ball routine. We have a new club with 17 newcomers, including 15 freshmen, we get Rob Segedin and Robby Broach back in the lineup and we have three guys (Segedin #99, Nick Pepitone #163, Conrad Flynn #243) on the team listed among the top 300 players in the nation. I think this squad will get us back to the Tulane as a nationally prominent program that we’ve grown accustom to," Jones added.

The 2010 campaign will open with a three-game home series and first time meeting against Boston College from the Atlantic Coast Conference on Friday, February 19 at 6:30 p.m. Tulane remains home for its next four contests beginning with cross-town rival UNO in the first of three games of the year against the Privateers on Feb. 24, and TU hosts Lipscomb, a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference, in a weekend series, Feb. 26-28.

The Wave’s first road game will be at South Alabama (Sun Belt Conference) on March 3 and TU returns home on March 5 to open a much anticipated three-game series against Southeastern Conference member Ole Miss (March 5-7). Following Ole Miss, Tulane makes the short trip to the Lakefront to battle UNO on March 9.

The opening weeks of March features first time meetings with three schools, including a four-game series with Towson (March 12-14) out of the Colonial Athletic Conference, a mid-week, two-game series with Big 12 Conference member, Kansas (March 16-17), and a three-game weekend series with Saint Mary’s (March 19-21) from the West Coast Conference. Tulane then hosts UNO for the final time on March 23 and opens C-USA play at home with a three-game series against Marshall (March 26-28).

"Conference USA is ranked among the top five leagues in the country for a reason. Only three teams made the NCAA Tournament last year, which I thought was an injustice to our league, but all three teams showed the strength of our conference once again with each team advancing to the final 16 in the super regionals and Southern Miss went to the College World Series. So, the strength of our conference schedule speaks for itself," Jones said.

The Green Wave closes out the month of March with a road contest at Southeastern Louisiana on March 30 and plays its first league series on the road at East Carolina, the defending regular season champions, April 2-3.

Along with ECU, the month of April features nine opponents, including home games against Nicholls State (April 6) and defending C-USA Tournament champion Rice (April 9-11) before battling LSU on the road on April 14 in the first of two games in the annual series. The Tulane-LSU rivalry will be renewed for the 293rd and 294th time this season.

A familiar face comes home to Greer field at Turchin Stadium during the middle of the month as former Tulane assistant coach Buddy Gouldsmithbrings his UNLV Rebels to the Crescent City for a three-game series, April 16-18. The Wave then hosts Southeastern Louisiana in the second game of the home-and-home series on April 20.

Tulane hits the road for a three-game swing at Memphis (April 23-25) and returns home for a Tuesday night contest against Louisiana-Lafayette on April 27.

The Green Wave concludes the month of April and opens the month of May with a three-game league series against Southern Miss (April 30 – May 2). Tulane and Southern Miss will meet for the 137th time on April 30, which marks the most contests for the Wave against any C-USA opponent. The Green Wave remains at home for a mid-week game against Louisiana-Monroe on May 4.

One of the toughest stretches of the season will come in May when Tulane plays two, three-game C-USA series on the road at Houston (May 7-9) and UAB (May 14-16) before returning home to host LSU in its final non-conference game of the regular season on May 18. The Green Wave then wraps up the 2010 regular season at home against UCF, May 20-22.

The 2010 C-USA Tournament is hosted by the University of Houston at Cougar Field, May 26-30, in Houston, Texas. The winner of the tournament will receive the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

NCAA regional play is slated for June 4-6 with NCAA Super Regional action scheduled for June 11-13. The always exciting NCAA College World Series will take place at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha (Neb.), June 19-30.
