Georgia Tech Fall Series starts on Monday

ThomasNicholsGT ATLANTA – Georgia Tech will conclude its fall campaign with the White and Gold World Series, beginning this Monday, Oct. 19 and concluding Wednesday, Oct. 21. The Jackets will split into two teams for a best-of-three series at Russ Chandler Stadium.

Assistant coach Bryan Prince will coach the White team and volunteer assistant coach Matt White will serve as the coach for the Gold team.

Details for the annual White and Gold World Series are as follows (starting pitchers for each contest listed in parenthesis):

Monday, Oct. 19 – White (Deck McGuire) vs. Gold (Brandon Cumpton), 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20 – White (Andrew Robinson) vs. Gold (Mark Pope), 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21 – White (Luke Bard) vs. Gold (Jed Bradley), 4 p.m.

All games are free and open to the public.

The white team captured the title last fall with a 4-3 upset victory in a one-inning sudden death playoff after the series was tied 2-2.

Deck Macguire, in my opinion, should be at least a possibility for pitcher of the year in Division 1. He did, after all, win pitcher of the year in the ACC and finished the season with a more than respectable 11-2 record and 3.50 ERA. Go Jackets!
