Seattle starts Fall Series today

SeattleIndoorPractice SEATTLE, Wash. – The Seattle University baseball team attempted to begin its best-of-three intrasquad series Tuesday as a way of finishing the fall practice season, but consistent rain postponed the series opener one day.

The Black and Scarlet Series is now scheduled to begin Wednesday, Oct. 14, starting at 1:15 p.m. at Lower Woodland Park. Game two of the series is set to take place Thursday, Oct. 15, at Lower Woodland Park at 1:15 p.m. If the series is tied after the two seven-inning contests, there will be a nine-inning game to decide the series Saturday, Oct. 17, beginning at 10:45 a.m. at Steve Cox Memorial Park in White Center.

On Oct. 17, the baseball team will be hosting its first annual Media Day, as Larry Stone of the Seattle Times and Steve Sandmeyer of KJR Radio are scheduled to serve as honorary managers. The members of the SeattleU baseball program have agreed to volunteer on behalf of the winning honorary manager’s charity.

The Seattle University baseball team is preparing for its first season of competition since the mid-1980s. The 2010 spring season is slated to begin Saturday, Feb. 20, at Washington State, with the first home game scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 25, against Saint Martin’s at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue. The full 2010 baseball schedule is expected to be announced soon.
