Gaedele-WSU-19 The CBB starts the countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We start the list today with Valparaiso University sophomore Kyle Gaedele. He is a 6’4 220 pound outfielder out of Arlington Heights Illinois and from Rolling Meadows High School. He was a three year letterwinner in high school where he was selected in the 32nd round by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2008.

He struggled some at the beginning of his freshman season which saw him finish with a .278 average, three homers and 18 RBI. He was honored by the Horizon League as he was put on the All-Newcomer team. After the season was over, he spent the summer in the Hannibal Cavemen in The Prospect League. He finished the summer with a .278 average with a league leading five homers and 28 RBI in 53 games. His most impressive stat from this summer is his 30 stolen bases including nine games with at least two. He also showed off his speed at the league’s All-Star game where he ran the 60 yard dash in 6.5 seconds. Baseball America rated Gaedele as the second best pro prospect in The Prospect League.
