CBB Top 100 Countdown: Number 80 Ben Thomas (Xavier)
The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 80 in our countdown with Xavier junior two-way player Ben Thomas from Columbus Ohio where he attended Westerville Central High School. He played all four seasons of high school ball under Scott Walberry where he was named All-Ohio Capital Conference and First-Team All-District as a senior. Multiple scouting services named Thomas the top high school prospect in Ohio but decided to head to Xavier.

The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 81 in our countdown with sophomore LHP Ali Simpson. He is a 6-3 lefty out of Campbell River, British Columbia and attended Carihi Secondary High School. He had a solid high school career as he had 1.21 ERA in 79 innings pitched.

Northern Sun Conference changes schedule format for 2010
Beginning with 2010, the Northern Sun Conference has announced that all conference series will start with a nine inning game, immediately followed by a seven inning set. Quick Hits around the Arizona State program
There is a lot of news going on with the Arizona State baseball program with the loss of Mike Leake to MLB and they continue to rebuild the offense after the run to the CWS in 2009. Josh Spence should head up the rotation again as the Aussie came back for his senior season after being selected in the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the third round. Notre Dame releases 2010 Slate

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame baseball team’s 2010 schedule, recently finalized and approved for release, will include early-season trips to Mississippi, Florida and Texas along with BIG EAST road series at USF, Georgetown, Seton Hall, West Virginia and Villanova. The slate also features the second annual Big Ten-BIG EAST Baseball Challenge, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission.
UNLV starts Fall Series Tonight

LAS VEGAS – The UNLV baseball team will conclude its fall slate with the annual Fall World Series, a three-game series which will get underway Friday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium with Team Black battling Team Scarlet for the title. Admission is free to all the games.
Team Black earned home-field advantage following a strong performance in the head-to-head scrimmages over the previous three weeks, and that squad will be coached by Jeff Prieto. Team Scarlet, which will be the home team in game two of the three-game series, will be coached by Bob Fenn.
Wright State to play Fall Series starting Tonight

DAYTON, Ohio – The Wright State baseball team will look to close the fall out with another classic series, as the Green squad will challenge the Gold team at the annual Green versus Gold series. The series will kick off on Friday evening at 6:00 and continue with games on Saturday and Sunday at Nischwitz Stadium with the first preview of the 2010 squad that will look to defend its 2009 Horizon League Championship.
CBB Top 100 Countdown: Number 82 Logan Darnell (Kentucky)
The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 82 in our countdown with Kentucky junior LHP Logan Darnell. He is from Goodpasture High School and his hometown is Joelton Tennessee. He had an outstanding high school career where he won the state championship in his freshman and senior seasons. In his senior season, he went 8-1 with a 1.57 ERA while striking out 112 batters in 62 innings. He also was strong in his junior season when he went 11-3 with an ERA of 1.20. He picked up All-State honors in his junior and senior campaigns while being named a Louisville Slugger High School All-American after his senior season.
