New Mexico State Announces 2010 Schedule

NewMexicoState LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State baseball head coach Rocky Ward released the Aggies’ 2010 schedule, Friday, Sept. 11. The schedule features 35 home games and a series against the University of Southern California to close out the regular season.

The Aggies open the season with a tournament hosted by the University of Washington in Tucson, Feb. 19-21. The tournament will feature the Aggies playing against Washington, Gonzaga, and Missouri. Home play starts Feb. 23-24 with the University of the Southwest coming to Presley Askew Field before Akron shows up in Las Cruces Feb. 26-28.

"We are excited about opening the season on the road at a good, early tournament in Tucson and about having two very good teams coming in from the East," Ward said. "This schedule is a week longer than the last couple of years because of another rule change that gives us 14 weeks to play instead of 13. We are excited that for the first time in a couple of years we have a little more time between games."

Rice Releases 2010 Baseball Schedule

Rendton HOUSTON – With no shortage to tough competition and what may prove to be one the best slate of games in the country, the Rice Owls’ baseball schedule for the upcoming 2009-2010 season was announced on Thursday (Sept. 10).

As the Owls’ baseball team did a year ago, there is a spring and fall portion to the new schedule. There are 55 spring games and one fall exhibition to be played as part of the team’s off-season training period.

The 55-game spring slate features 27 home games at Reckling Park and a total of 31 in the city of Houston.

Kyle Bunn added to Alabama Coaching Staff

“Obviously when we started this search, Kyle was our number-one target from the outset,” Alabama head coach Mitch Gaspard said.  “We loved his style; he has a great mentality and a great knowledge of pitching and his development of pitchers is obvious.

Jason Lefkowitz added to UCSB Coaching Staff

BobBrontsema SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara baseball Head Coach Bob Brontsema announced on Wednesday that Jason Lefkowitz has joined his coaching staff, now giving the Gauchos three full-time coaches.

Lefkowitz, who played at Loyola Marymount, comes to UCSB from Brown University where he served as Assistant Coach and Camp Director since 2006. He joins Brontsema and Associate Head Coach Tom Myers as full-time coaches at UCSB.

Former Deac Achilles Added to Wake Forest Baseball Staff

St. Mary’s announces Three-Year extension for Jedd Soto

JeddSoto Moraga, CA – Saint Mary’s College Director of Athletics and Recreational Sports Mark Orr, announced a contract extension for head baseball coach Jedd Soto. Soto, the school’s third winningest coach since 1968, has received a three-year contract extension, which keeps Soto under contract through the 2012 season.

“I’m very pleased to continue Jedd Soto’s leadership of the baseball program,” said Orr. “The progress this program has had under his leadership has been impressive. His ability to recruit and develop quality student-athletes is something I look forward to seeing him continue to do for years to come.

NC State looking to rebound in 2010

ElliotAvent The NC State Wolfpack struggled last season which saw them go 25-31 overall and 10-20 in the ACC after being within one game of making the CWS in 2008. The Wolfpack have brought in a strong recruiting class for the 2010 season which features 14 new players (11 freshmen, 4 juniors).

Campbell Signs Seven In Summer Recruiting Period

Four junior college transfers highlight the summer recruiting for the Fighting Camels including two pitchers who helped their squads reach the postseason, including one who made an appearance in the Junior College World Series.

South Dakota State, Yale Post 2010 Schedules

SDSU The 2010 schedule for the South Dakota State Jackrabbits has been announced.  The 56 game schedule features 31 games away from Huether Field, including a 31 game road trip to begin the season.

The road slate begins with an opening weekend series at Murray State (Feb. 26-28) followed by a mid-week date at Nebraska (March 2) before a four game set at Air Force (March 5-7).  The Jacks then visit Arkansas (March 9-10) for a two game mid-week set before taking part in the Metrodome Tournament (March 12-14) along with Harvard, Creighton, and Minnesota.

Texas A&M Releases 2010 Schedule

025efu07 COLLEGE STATION, Texas – A 24-game, season-opening homestand and matchups with 12 NCAA Tournament teams highlight the 2010 Texas A&M baseball schedule, announced Tuesday by head coach Rob Childress.

The Aggies will play 40 of their 56 games at the friendly confines of Olsen Field, where they have won 95 games over the last three seasons. In addition, half of A&M’s games in 2010 will be against opponents who will be coming off trips to the NCAA Tournament.

"This is another rugged and challenging schedule, and it’s one I know our players, staff and fans alike will be excited about," Childress said.
