Bradley adds Sean Lyons to Coaching Staff

SeanLyons PEORIA, Ill. – The Bradley Baseball program solidified its staff for the 2010 season by announcing former Eastern Illinois assistant coach Sean Lyons as the Braves newest addition. Lyons spent six seasons as the Panthers defense and infield coach, recruiting coordinator and also worked extensively with EIU’s hitters. In addition to his coaching experience, Lyons played for the Panthers from 1996-99.

Stephen F. Austin opens Fall Practice

SFAFallPractice NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Lumberjack baseball team opened up fall practice on Monday with approximately 60 players reporting for duty as Johnny Cardenas and his staff begin preparations for the 2010 season.

The `Jacks can work as a full team for 20 practices in the fall with a intrasquad world series scheduled for the final week of practice.

Virginia releases 2010 Slate

Virginia2010Pic CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Coming off the program’s first appearance in the College World Series as well as an ACC Championship, the Virginia baseball team will face a challenging slate for the 2010 season, with 27 games against 2009 NCAA Tournament teams. The schedule for 2010 was announced today by Virginia head coach Brian O’Connor. 

Eleven participants in the 2009 NCAA Tournament, including Super Regional qualifiers Clemson, East Carolina, Florida State and North Carolina, dot the Cavaliers’ 56-game regular-season schedule. Thirty-six games will be against teams that won at least 30 games in 2009.

CBB Column: 2010 CWS Predictions

The most popular selection is Texas showing up on all six ballots with LSU, Cal-State Fullerton, and Virginia showing up on five of them. KR: Looks at the Big East heading into Fall Workouts

BigEast Kendall Rogers of Rivals continues his series of conference previews heading into fall ball today with the Big East Conference. He believes that the conference needs to take a massive step forward after the top three teams in St. John’s, Louisville, and Notre Dame in competing for a CWS title. Of course, the Big East has a major disadvantage as many of the schools in the conference have substandard facilities and poor weather which affects early season workouts.

Bama set to start Fall Practice on Monday

BamaBaseball TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama baseball team will open fall practice on Monday afternoon at Sewell-Thomas Stadium where first-year head coach Mitch Gaspard will unveil his brand of baseball that will produce a team that competes and works hard each and every day.

“I think we’re really trying to get a team identity and what we want is a blue-collar, hard-nosed, down and dirt type team,” Gaspard said.  “We want a team that is going to be dirty at the end of the day, and I think that starts Monday.  When these guys finish practice, they should be sweaty, tired and full of dirt at the end of the day, and that’s going to be demanded of them from Monday through Nov. 11.”

St. Mary’s adds 18 for 2010 Season

St.Mary'sBaseball Moraga, CA - There will be a number of new faces out at Louis Guisto Field next week when the Saint Mary’s College Baseball team begins fall practice. Head coach Jedd Soto brought in 16 student-athletes to compete for a position on the 2010 roster. The incoming class includes 10 pitchers, five infielders, two outfielders, and one catcher.

K-State kicks off Fall Practice on Sunday

K-State MANHATTAN, Kan. – Following a school-record 43-win season, which led to the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, the Kansas State baseball team begins fall practice on Sunday in preparations for the 2010 season.

K-State will conduct 22 practices over the next five weeks, followed by a seven-game Fall World Series, which runs Sunday, October 25 through Tuesday, November 3.

Texas opens Fall Practice
